The debut EP from Newcastle’s rock five piece Ali’s Love Child does not disappoint. Opener 'Black 'N' Blue', with its blaring guitar riffs sounds like something that could feature on the Sons of Anarchy TV show. It's Heavy biker rock with powerful vocals riding over the top.
'Mistress Malice' has a head-banging riff during the first two minutes before it explodes into a sublime guitar solo and th
e backing vocals shouting out “Hey you” create a rock choir vibe. At around 3:15 the song drops out and a beautiful slow guitar picking lullaby takes place. A tight electric guitar also lays over the top of the other guitar to create a crisp and clear sound. It’s concluded by a frenzy of hard strums which lead back into the vocals and the familiar riff from the start of the song. The final track on the EP 'Rock N’ Roller' opens with a heavier vibe. The drums smash a cowbell far in the background of the musical onslaught. The lyrics “Because she smashed it” have a very old school rock sound to them. The song breaks into a wicked guitar solo; something Ali’s Love Child have kept up with throughout the whole EP.
