West Mids Regional Rookie 18th Nov 4pm for a 4:30pm start Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre

Regional rookie is a lifesaving sport speed competition aimed at our rookie and younger NLA members. Teams of up to 6 members compete in under 11 or under 14 age categories.

There are 5 events:
Body board relay
Brick relay
Manikin tow relay
Torpedo buoy relay
Line throw relay

The fastest team wins!

West Mids Heat 9th September - Warwick

Nationals are back for 2023, kicking off with Regional Heats from 1 July! 💪

Booking is now open to enter your local Heat and this year we have introduced two new age groups: 17-19 pairs and 70+.

You can register and make a payment of £16 per person online to secure your place. The deadline for entries is 14 days prior to your respective Heat.

Good luck to all competitors, and we hope to see you at the Final in Leeds! 🙌

As you may have seen there have been a number of recent tragic drownings covered by the media. The recent hot weather over the Bank Holiday weekend would have contributed towards a number of these cases and with more sunny weather on the way, these stories are another important reminder of why our work is so very important.
Thank you for supporting RLSS UK in whatever way that you do. Sadly we can't prevent every drowning incident, but by helping to share our water safety information and messages, you really are making a difference.

Following today's tragic news, we have been asked how best adults can discuss water safety with children. We have an educational Winter Safety Activity Booklet and Colouring In Sheet to help start those conversations.

We now know that tragically, three boys aged eight, 10 and 11 have sadly died, and a six-year-old remains in critical condition after an incident yesterday afternoon in Solihull and our thoughts are with those involved.

This weekend we had an extremely cold spell which meant many bodies of water froze over. We have lots of detailed safety information on our website which will help keep you safe during the winter.

The key things to remember are:

1. Never go onto the ice to play, to retrieve an object, or a pet
2. Never enter the ice to rescue somebody, call 999 and ask for the Fire and Rescue Service

Timings

5:45pm -6pm Registration opens and go get changed (registration will be in the café near the entrance to the spectators area and the changing rooms).
6pm – all casualties on poolside please – competitors stay in the changing rooms and wait for security to open.
6pm – 6:10pm be ready to move to one of the changing rooms for security.
6:10-6:15 Security closes and set up the incidents/practice with casualties etc.
6:15 start
7:15pm reset the pool for swim and tow and line throw
7:50pm presentations
8pm
