Last yard visit of the year βοΈ
My thoughts are with anyone who finds themselves feeling less festive this year.
Many of my clients have lost their pets in the past months, the last part of this year has felt heavy for so many of you.
Take care, stay positive & I look forward to seeing you all in the new year. π
Gorgeous girlie Faye waiting patiently for another swim during her combined Physio & Hydro session last week.
Keeping her mobile and improving her stability in her older years, with better movement going into 2023 than she had at the beginning of 2022.
Isn't she gorgeous π€
Is it even Christmas if you haven't asked your dog to pose with some decor on yet...? This is as far as Pip allows me to 'dress her up' π€Ά
Thanks as always to the wonderful for our matching bandana & scrunchie! π
Let's bring Bert out again to remind everyone to wipe those paws. Be careful with your pets this week and take supplies when travelling in case you break down for humans and animals βοΈβοΈβοΈ
So if you hadn't figured out already I am invested in the therapeutic properties of water!
For those who will listen I have been putting my body through its paces trying to incorporate cold water immersion therapy into my weekly routine.
After spending so much time training and focusing on the positive effects of warm water for your pets (& myself) I am now experiencing the elements and experimenting with cold water therapy for the positive mental and physical benefits it provides for humans.
If it's something you're interested in I highly recommend a guided breathwork and immersion session with David at The Farm Club, Pickmere. For an inclusive experience in a supportive environment whether attending alone or with friends π
My job comes with a lot of loss.
The time animals stay with us on this earth is not always fair or as to be expected. ππΎπ
With this in mind, for quite some time I've wanted to look into training for pet bereavement services, as I feel it's vital to our wellbeing and ability to process this humongous loss which often leads to re-emergence of previous loss that animal helped to heal. π€
In January, I've signed up for the introduction to counselling course at my local college. I don't know how far this journey will go but ideally I will work through the levels alongside running my business and treating all my wonderful clients. Either way, this will add to my tool box of skills for owners and help me too.
Alongside this it will help support my role as a group facilitator for a charity where once a month where we allow a safe space for those bereaved to come together and share in a common (human) loss. π
For the meantime ... I find peace and reflection in walking around garden centres and seeing what calls out to me π
this ones been an unexpected addition to our front yard, something else to care for I guess! π€
Physical therapy is about more than just the physical. The way your dog behaves or feels emptionally in session feeds back through their nervous system and can systematically change the way in which they are able to move. π
Rain did not stop play yesterday.
I had the pleasure of meeting and treating Leo who's owner had noticed changes in his behaviour on tacking up.
Interestingly, this has happened before with the change of seasons so along with physical therapy techniques to release tension we discussed husbandry changes and a holistic approach to Leo's treatment moving forwards.
He was a joy to treat and I look forward to visiting him again soon to see how we're progressing π
This gorgeous lady loves to snooze through her pamper sessions... Here we are using both pulsed magnetic therapy and L.A.S.E.R. This is done with the aim to improve her overall well-being & help her transition to these colder months. π€
Start Vs End of the day π
VetFest Day1 complete... We've sat in on 6 lectures from a range of speakers, spoken to so many therapists within the industry and represented our professional body at a national level... All in one day!
Day 2 is still to come... β
This weekend myself and Pip set off on a charity walk to raise money for the Lake District Mountain Rescue Dogs with family and friends. She took the whole event in her stride and helped raise money for a worthy cause. She was rewarded by a little float around Coniston on the paddle board which she absolutely loved π
***I should highlight that we have built Pips hiking up over time and between myself and Nick we focused all our energy on keeping her happy and safe at every step of the walk, not that she needed it***
For anyone wanting to know how Pips paddle boarding has gone this week... Its been an absolute success! There has been a lot of practice and teaching before taking her on the water and I'd describe it more like floating than paddling just yet! Looks like you can't get me away from water even when I am away from clinic. π¦
It's been a welcome break between my volunteer work as Membership Secretary for IRVAP (The Institute of Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists), a busy time for us as renewals are due the end of March annually.
I can't wait to see your wonderful pooches (and ponies) again next week πΆππ

It's been a pleasure to work with Lucy and her human πππππ
Pip & I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU for your generosity over the festive period. π
Again, I have been overwhelmed by the number of gifts, wishes and cards of thanks received at this time. I've had some down time over this period but am ready to jump back into clinics tomorrow and see all your wonderful dogs again! πΆ
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and trust in me with your pets care, I really do value every single animal I am able to help in this world π
Let's see what 2022 will bring for us all, Ellie (& Pip!) πΎ
P.S see image of Nick helping to prep clinic to reopen after the Christmas period, I promised him a share of the goodies if he helped π€£
A fantastic couple of days Exhibiting at the London Vet Show as a volunteer for IRVAP. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy talking to anyone and everyone about our area in the industry. Lots of Vets interested in integrating Physiotherapy / Rehabilitation services into their practices. A big shift in the industry since I first began my work with IRVAP. First large scale event since Nov 2019, let's hope we can keep doing more! π€
What a week, thank you to all my clients old and new. I've blinked and we're at the end of Friday! Very therapeutic deep clean of my clinic this evening before heading into a few days to relax and recharge. I will be back in clinic from Wednesday 22nd September. Drop me a message if you need to in the mean time, I will reply once I'm back in work. Have a great weekend with your pooches everyone πΎ
I hope everyone's weekends were spent as they are meant to be, with a content dog snoozing in sunshine πΎβοΈ
The perfect way to end the working week... Receiving a snap of this snoozing beauty afrer her initial session this morning π Have a good weekend all πΎ
The moment that partnership falls back into place ππΎπ΄
Post hydro snooze snaps π΄
I've been enjoying going green since July and really getting into cycling to and from clinic. I get easily distracted stopping to say hi to dogs on my way but every little helps to keep the planet and myself healthier! π΄ββοΈ
This one has hit her target weight! After identifying that Pip had increased weight by 10% back in May we have worked hard to decrease her back to her optimum! We can all let things slide from time to time and this year has thrown lots of challenges with regards to changes in routine and exercise schedules. Keeping your pets at a healthy weight is so important to optimise health and reduce loading on joints. Have you weighed your dog recently? Do you know what their target weight should be? πΎ
I had a great time refreshing my Canine First Aid Knowledge last month. Huge thanks to for hosting such a fantastic course! πΎπ
Fabulous snap of one of my gorgoeus clients who has been enjoying adventures both in and out of her chariot! π
Couldn't help but take a snap of this refraction of light whilst setting up clinic the other morning π
We love working with such a range of characters... Benji enjoys a lie down whilst he waits for the water to come into the treadmill ππ¦πΎ
Beautiful Maddie who has been attending the clinic for dual therapy sessions integrating both laser and water treadmill hydrotherapy following the identification of partial cruciate damage. Working with her owner and vet, we are supporting her movement and decreasing her discomfort whilst strenthening her hind limbs. She just comes for the pate π πΎ
From this... To this!
What a handsome boy he has grown up to be. It's been a pleasure working with this super star! We've moved through a few harness sizes over the past 6 months, now it's time to sign him off his treatment programme after such fabulous progress! π
Looks like its another year in office as Membership Secretary for IRVAP (The Institute of Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists). Last night's AGM was a great success, hopefully we can start attending these events in person later this year. π
A holistic approach to rehabilitation.
With an initial drive to become a Veterinarian. I began my journey observing practice and gaining husbandry experience in and around the North West. During this time, I developed a key understanding of the importance rehabilitation post-injury has to play for the animalsβ overall wellbeing. With this focus, I went on to complete a core science degree at the UoN with the aim to translate this strong academic understanding to the profession of Veterinary Rehabilitation through further completion of my PgDip in Veterinary Physiotherapy. Alongside this, I hold the relevant qualifications in Canine Hydrotherapy and hold weekly clinics in Poynton, South Manchester and Widnes, Northwest to incorporate both water treadmill and pool modalities into my patientβs rehabilitation programme.
