Functional Skills: Wednesdays only
I have emailed our wednesday families with new access codes to Google Classroom and the invites to join the lessons via Teams. This invite to join me in Teams will take us up to the summer break. If you have not received your email, please do let me know. Thursdays and Fridays lessons will receive their codes as we work through the week. Let me know if you have any questions. Jill x

Due to having to rearrange last Thursday's lessons from 11 am, I will be running the missed lessons this week. Families should now have received their invites, so please pm me if you have yet to receive yours. For all of our learners, new Functional Skills codes will be sent out tomorrow, alongside with log in details to join the classes. J x

Tomorrow, all families will be sent an invite to join us for lessons on a new platform. I will be online from 9.30 am, so please come and check things out so that we have plenty of time to sort any teething problems out well before a lesson starts. Has anyone been asked recently for the Zoom invite or shared it in Google Classroom? Any information would be super helpful. There isn't a problem if you have, I just need as much information as possible to help with the current situation. Thanks in advance. Jill x

Holiday dates for the June break: Planet Diversity will be taking the usual break week commencing the 27th of June to the week commencing the 3rd of June. I will be available for marking and catch-ups as usual! Jill x

For families attending this week's lessons, please pm me with the lesson/s, time/level and a Zoom invite will be sent ASAP. This is in a bid to keep our lovely learners safe online. I will be online ten minutes before the start of each lesson if there are any difficulties. Once the lesson has started it will not be possible to allow access to our lessons. Please give yourself sufficient time to confirm the place etc.

For the first time in many years, we have had a user pretending to be someone else to gain access to our lessons. There is nothing more important than keeping our learners safe, so...

What does this mean for us moving forward? We have new Zoom invites for all lessons. This may cause a little extra work for us just now, as all families must now register in Zoom with an email, so please give yourselves plenty of time to do this before the lessons start. Once this is done, we are back to normal, so please bear with us.

All families will have received an email for Friday's lessons (3/5/24). If not, just let me know, as we know what tech is like, and I can then send the invite code directly. Any questions? Just get in touch!

It is super-important that you take the opportunity to listen (if required), look at and understand what you will need with you in our lessons. Please make sure those who are attending our dyslexia lesson at 1 pm, have the resources ready to go! : )

Functional Skills for May: So, this month we are starting a new project for all our budding entrepreneurs out there. From cake makers to crafters, we hope that you enjoy and develop skills that will mean success in the future, alongside achieving nationally recognised qualifications!

This applies to both English and maths and for all levels. I really hope that we can inspire our wonderful home edders who have an idea bubbling around, or to inspire those who may not have thought about starting their own business in the future. We have some very talented young people out there! Jill x

Dyslexia lessons for all ages via Zoom. Camera and mic aren't essential for those who are happier this way. Very small groups - always less than 5 learners. No diagnosis is required.

The Shine Learning Programme offers live lessons in term time with access to a whole year's worth of activities and tasks whilst subscribing to one of our courses. Just £30.00 per month. Live lessons take place Thursdays at 1 pm and last 45 minutes. Want to try us?

Additionally, we have a self-directed course that provides a whole year of learning, at least! This is £149.00. Includes marking and feedback throughout the year.

For our dyscalculia lesson at 1 pm today, please ensure that you have the access code for this month's Google Classroom. The resources are essential for this lesson.

So the first lesson of this term for those with dyscalculia starts tomorrow at 1 pm. This is a very hands-on practical course, which covers the same topics we cover in our functional skills programme, but just accessed a little differently. The cost of dyscalculia support is £30.00, which includes live lessons in term time and access to a programme of learning throughout the year to ensure continuity. Want to try us out? : )

For those wanting to join us today for our last dyslexia support lesson before Easter, please get in touch so that you will have the resources needed to use within this lesson. Today we are working on vowel sounds and sentence construction. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes and the cost is normally £30.00 per month, which includes live lessons in term time and access to The Shine Learning Programme throughout your time with us.
