Being surrounded by a world that feels so foreign can be isolating. My thoughts and perspectives often diverge sharply from those around me, creating a sense of disconnect. It's as if I view the world through a different lens, one that reveals nuances and truths that others overlook or dismiss.
This divergence isn't just a matter of differing opinions; it's a fundamental difference in how I perceive and process the world. While many are driven by trends, fleeting interests, and surface-level interactions, I find myself drawn to deeper, more timeless considerations. This inclination sets me apart, often making it difficult to find common ground in everyday conversations.
Keeping my thoughts to myself has become a necessary strategy for navigating this world. Sharing my true views and feelings often leads to misunderstanding or dismissal, not out of malice, but because they simply don't align with the prevailing mindset. It's easier to remain silent than to continually explain and defend a perspective that seems alien to others.
This self-imposed solitude can be both a source of strength and a burden. On one hand, it allows me to cultivate a rich inner life, filled with unique insights and personal growth. On the other hand, it can be lonely, as meaningful connections are rare and fleeting. The challenge lies in balancing this internal world with the external reality, finding ways to engage without compromising my authenticity.
In this sense, living in this generation feels like existing in a parallel universe. I observe and participate in the world around me, but always with a sense of detachment, as if I'm an observer rather than a full participant. This perspective offers clarity and objectivity, but it also reinforces the sense of being an outsider.
Ultimately, this experience shapes my identity and worldview in profound ways. It teaches me resilience and self-reliance, while also fostering a deep appreciation for the rare moments of genuine understanding and connection. Though I may feel out of sync with the times, this unique position allows me to see beyond the immediate and the obvious, offering a perspective that is both rare and valuable.
This delicate creature has a powerful story: The dragonfly spends its first years of life living in the water. One day, when it is ready to change, the dragonfly climbs up a reed and miraculously begins to breathe air, crawling out from its old skin and unfolding the majestic wings which were there within its body all along. It is now carried by these wings to a new existence; a new plane of reality, which would seem too fantastic to be real to its other tiny friends still living in the pond.
The challenges we face in life will leave us forever changed. As the dragonfly’s story illustrates, we may even appear to vanish to our friends, but we have simply changed forms. A challenging life path can allow us to gather the strength needed to use the inner courage we’re born with. After this difficult transformation, survivors and those who fought gain a new and beautiful kind of power. There are stories of those who believe dragonflies visit us sometimes as messengers from loved ones who have passed on after undergoing this transformative journey, so keep this tale in mind the next time you see a dragonfly.

"Don't let your skin become so thick that nothing can hurt you anymore. Getting wounded is part of the experience. The scars you collect are all part of your story. Take off your armor and give vulnerability a chance to paint your naked form. Feel the sunlight on your shoulders. Let the wind move through your hair. Give your tears a chance to be counted. Allow us to be swept up in your smile
You see, my love, you weren't born to be hidden behind a towering wall. You were formed out of an ancient whisper to become a natural wonder where we all visit to. Listen to the songbirds sing through the pines of your evergreen beauty. You were given this skin to be kissed softly - don't let it grow scales. You were given your eyes to reflect starlight - don't close them to keep us from seeing your soul. You were given your hands to lace inside another hand - don't keep them constantly folded in your lap.
My love, I know this world can be a sharpened spear that will often pierce you but when given a choice bleeding is always better than apathy. Someday when we meet in the moving cosmic river that exists on the crawling fringe of everything. Let's take turns washing each other's scars while saying the same prayer over and over:
"I got this wound
for caring and I
got this one for
having an open heart
but that is the cost
that comes from being
a living work of sacred art."
