Round up of the recent Harburn Hall Centennial Anniversary Quiz โโโ
Dramatic Last Round Shoot-Out Wins It For Local Team.๐๐
The Centennial Quiz hosted by Ace Quiz โInquizatorโ [AQI] Guy was a resounding success as eight teams lined up to battle for the right to be crowned Harburn Hall Centennial Quiz Champions.๐ค
As kick off time approached a last minute glitch meant that team โLockdown ZOOM Ladiesโ [LZL] found themselves a player short and really up against the odds, especially as local quiz specialists and former winners โSmarty Pantsโ and the Marauding Tarbrax team, โB*wilderedโ were playing at full strength.
In a dramatic last minute development the LZL team swooped to sign local man Dave Lunney who had suddenly become available due to the non-appearance of his regular team, the โWackiedemicsโ. ๐
There then followed ten rounds each of ten questions, one for every year since 1923, the year that the Hall was opened.
Utilising the big screen, audio clips and hand out leaflets, our AQI delivered a comprehensive series of straight forward and not so straight forward brain teasers all of which tested the โLittle Grey Cellsโ of those present, who ranged in age from the low teens to the high seventies.
Following a blistering start by all teams the contest settled into a series of puzzled stares, moments of inspiration, moments of despair, as well as moments of downright consternation and incredulity as our AQI plumbed the depths of his encyclopaedic resources both online and off, to tax our brains.
Following a mid match break to take on sustenance, during which teams compared answers without revealing too much info, play was resumed in a dash to the finish.
Revitalised by an intake of โfuelsโ of various forms, the combined and now revived โLittle Grey Cellsโ went into overdrive as the points tallies mounted up.
In a nail biting finish the โHarburn Playersโ secured third place, then in a dramatic dash to the line, the Marauding Tarbrax team โB*wilderedโ were edged out by a single point by the โLockdown ZOOM Ladiesโ.๐๐คฉ๐
The evening was concluded by the traditional awarding of the trophies and a very heartfelt vote of thanks to our Ace Quiz Inquizator โ Guy Vernham.๐๐๐
A huge thank you to this young man (check out the photo bomb) and everyone who took part in Harburnโs Annual Litter Walk this weekend. ๐๐๐
