Hey guys!!!!!

We are the Jurassic Coast Raptors Basketball Club. A family run club based in the Isle of Purbeck. We are the only basketball club in the area. We practice out of the Purbeck sports Centre currently on Saturdays (U6-U14s) and Sundays (U16&18s). We cater to all players aged 4+ and welcome anyone of any ability, we have the right group for you.

We are committed to helping our players develop both a love for the game on and off the court with teachings in not just the physical skill side of the game but the mental, tactical and emotional side too. Our coaching team are all on the same mission and that is to help as many children as possible love the game as we do.

The team will be competing in the Dorset Basketball Association Junior League alongside 5 other existing teams and one other new team for the 24/25 season starting in September. If you feel your child would like to try a new sport or be apart of a team where it is more than a sports team but a family then please do not hesitate to get in touch and join the pack!

We are happy to regularly donate to Swanage Skatepark. Any sports and recreational facility which gets visitors and locals out and about, staying fit and having fun has to be a good thing. Help them raise their target on time.

If you come to the shop for the next few days please stay right away from the garden. Our resident doe has had her fawn and she will beat you up! We are open - we can't get near the flag to put it up!

We are supporting Swanage Skatepark this Saturday so our shop (Sandford Lane - Wareham) will be Open 0900-1230, then 3.30-6

Jaxon joined our team in January 2024. Our team members have to : Enjoy the sport. Promote the sport & protect it's image in the community. Be resilient. Be brave. Be kind & respectful at all times in their community & at skateparks
Help younger riders to learn & stay safe. Be an inspiration & a good example to others. Jaxon was chosen because we believed he had these qualities. He kept riding his scooter learning new tricks & never giving up, over & over practising & creating good quality & positive videos of his progress. He started a donation scheme at our shop, where unwanted & used scooter parts are available for anyone to take. He has been teaching younger riders, helping them with their scooters. He is polite but fun. Jaxon is lucky in that he has a great bunch of mates who also scoot, these guys deserve some recognition too - especially John. Jaxon's mates patiently film him & encourage him. The skating & scooting kids seem to be all good eggs & you should be proud of them, they face a lot of discrimination & stereotyping. They also have to work together to make sure that unwanted influences stay out of the skateparks, sometimes taking on challenges alone & doing the right thing. On Sunday 19th May, Jaxon entered a competition at Prevail Indoor skatepark. His friends went with him to join in, support & film. When I got there he excitedly told me that he had almost landed a backflip for the first time. He had only ever practiced backflips into the foam pit before, never landed one, & here he was in front of about a hundred people in a competition, trying to land it on a scooter on a resin ramp. I watched him make at least four attempts & failing, with all of the people demanding he tried again, banging their scooters loudly on the floor, cheering him on & making a sympathetic but disappointed sound when he failed. Finally he landed it! To say we were proud was an understatement. What a gutsy & resilient young man!
