Dear friends this is a sad day, Long Compton Abattoir has stopped killing today after over 100 years serving our community and allowing local farmers to kill their beasts in the most humane way possible keeping travelling time and stress to an absolute minimum. In order to keep enjoying great quality local meat it is vital that we keep these local abattoirs going, the alternative is huge commercial abattoirs where animals are exposed to hours of stress and discomfort waiting to be killed. Not only is this upsetting for the animal in its final hours but also it floods your meat with adrenaline which makes the flavour more bitter thus reducing the benefit of all the hard work that goes into meat like the grass fed Dexter meat that I am so very proud to produce. Please take your time to look at the attached proposal and share this post where you can. Shares are being offered and are backed ( I believe) by freehold property investment in the abattoir which has a shop and restaurant and residential aspect.

I pray that the new steering group will succeed in keeping this vital and excellent business going and will make a thriving success story out of it.
