Why do our classes have an Exploratory Play Area? Babies need opportunities for two different kinds of play - adult-led and free flow, in order to best develop all their skills. Free flow play is particularly good for encouraging creativity, experimentation, making choices, problem solving skills and for building confidence and self-esteem. The structure of a Baby Sensory™️ class has been carefully designed to enable babies to follow their natural play-rest-play cycle which lasts about one hour. 25 mins play - 20 mins rest - 15 mins play. The first 25 mins of the class involves a series of short sensory activities. During the second 20 mins you can move over to the Exploratory Play Area. This section of the class provides the following opportunities… 💛 Babies can find a place to relax and recharge eg on an airbed with soft or silky textures or in the ball pool. 💚 Babies can make choices about what they would like to play with and for how long. 💛 While babies are relaxing and happily occupied, you can catch up with friends, make new connections and share experiences and top tips with other parents. 💚 You and baby can try out new toys and equipment (knowing everything is kept clean and in good condition), and discover things your baby enjoys. 💛 Mobile babies can freely and safely explore and practice creeping, crawling, standing and walking. We then return to the Sensory Area for a final 15 mins of activities including something calming and therapeutic to provide a chance to wind down before you go.
