Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of attending the Kapuscinski lecture delivered by former UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon at our university.

The lecture was titled "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Role of the Youth for a Sustainable and Resilient Future"

Ban Ki-Moon stressed on the need to have a unified approach towards achieving the SDGs, especially as it pertains to climate change.

He urged the youth to speak up for themselves and challenge policies that threaten their future.

He proposed the adoption of "global citizenship" where we tackle global issues together, irrespective of geographical, racial and cultural differences.

"By combining passion with compassion, we can become global citizens"

It was an inspirational session.
