Parker’s Domestic Services
Providing a helpful service to those requiring an extra hand or small DIY jobs around the house.
I have returned to NE12, Killingworth this week. The project has been installing ceiling gloss finished panels to the ceiling of a utility room. The client supplied the panels and light fitting to replace the batten light fitting.
Thank you to Karla and her husband for accepting my services to do this project and becoming regular customers of my business.
Another day, another job done. Today I brought along my "tradie trainee" to complete this flat pack bed, storage and desk. I think we had a pretty good method from the beginning, but it took a while! I want to thank Paul for reaching out and allowing us to take on this project and we hope your daughter enjoys the use of her new bed.
If anyone is interested in flat pack assembly please reach out on Facebook messenger. I am always happy to send free quotations and send a member of the team for in-person quotes if required.
This job was done in the area of NE26, Whitley Bay.
I want to thank Matthew and his wife for using my business on this occasion to install the wall mounted bracket and floating shelf. This job will always stay with me as a learning curve. There is always a chance of hitting a cable concealed in the wall but on this occasion it was when I was installing the floating shelf as I was trying to get it levelled and symmetrical in line with the TV. The problem was later rectified and the clients were happy with the outcome.
This job was done in NE25, Seaton Delaval.
A couple of small jobs in NE25, Seaton Delaval. Thank you to Sue for using my business for these jobs.
My first job was to mount this TV on the wall. Power mains were already installed via an electrician. The bracket that the client supplied was not full motion or tilt bracket but it was perfect to make a fast and level installation.
The second job was to install a new letter box to replace the old one. Again a nice easy job to end the day. (Due to the privacy of the client I have blocked the address on the letterbox in the photo).
NE25, Seaton Delaval.
A few small jobs were done at this property. Apologies for so few photos (literally one photo) as I got caught up in the jobs and had to return a second day, due to ordering the wrong size part the first time for the draws runners.
First job was to re-hang the curtain rail onto the wooden batten as it was previously installed on the plastered wall and fell. I was asked to also poly fill the holes in the wall.
The second job was to fix a chested box as the screws came out of the lifting hinge. So I adhesive and screwed the hinge into place.
The third job was the draw runners. Many of the runners were broken to pieces. When I eventually ordered the closest match to what was installed I was able to return and complete the job. It involved a lot of adjustments to find the correct spacings, height and fixings of the runners but I got the job done in the end.
Thank you to Hilary for taking up my services and spreading the word of my business to others.
I have been working in NE12, Killingworth this week. The project has been installing ceiling gloss finished panels to this porch. The client supplied the panels that were perfect for the job and I supplied the matt finished edge trim with both materials I was able to finish the job and gained more experience from doing it. Definitely one of those projects that are slow starting and takes time for precision.
Thank you to Karla and her husband for accepting my services to do this project and being flexible in availability.
Whitley Bay, NE25
W**d removal from pavement slabs and brickwork. An enjoyable task to work in the sunshine and top up on my tan.
Rotten waste pipes that were poorly installed created a back flood for the client. I replaced the pipe system with black UPVC waste pipe and solvent fittings. A steady, slight slope to the soil pipe was the goal with limitations as I didn't want to adjust the soil pipe making more inconvenience for both the client and myself. I am happy to say no complaints so far but I did inform the client if it was to back flood again the outlet of the soil pipe would have to be lowered as a remedy.
Thank you to Stu and Hilary for using my business for this project in NE12, Killingworth.
Some of the jobs completed this past week. I have replaced a dual flush toilet seal to stop water leaking from tank to bowl. For the same client I replaced a like for like door handle as the original snapped in to two.
Just today, I had a job of replacing lighting fittings which like all jobs come with small problems to solve as every job or house is not the same and may need the extra determination to get the job done. This job was successful and the clients were pleased with the work.
Another job completed in NE12 Palmersville area. This job involved replacing internal door handle set.
Client is a landlady of this lovely house which has amazing solid wood flooring and it had to be mentioned. Client originally wanted the latch and square bar installed on these brass door handles. After a lot of research and consulting the client with products and prices from various suppliers we concluded with the installation of these amazing antique brass handles and latch set as it was the closest match in stock and acceptable price.
I did arrive to the job 15-10minutes early but thankfully the tenant was in and happy for me to do the job straight away.
It had taken me a little over a hour to finish the job due to the latch being square shape instead of tubular so a lot of chiselling as done and likewise with the slot in the door lining for making slight adjustment so the door could close and stay closed.
Tenant was happy with the completion of the job and I had received a very positive message from the client that they will take it my services again in the future if required.
Whitley bay NE25 area. I cover southern Northumberland district, North Tyneside and around Newcastle City Centre.
I was asked to install a key box for the clients mothers house and by chance manage to gain another handy job at the same premise.
The client asked if I could repair the large hole and cracks to the outside wall. I was totally honest and upfront that I have never done it before but willing to give it a go. She was more than happy enough for me to do it.
Small job in Forest Hall NE12
I was asked to shorten the height of round steel pipe in a clients garden to allow the gate to open widely without restriction and to prevent injury when walking on their pavement. I was able to be on site between 30-60 minutes and had the job completed in no time. The client was very pleased I had a very positive mention on Facebook.
A job from a while back now in Longbenton NE12 area.
Client wanted their curtain rail installed and had attempted to do it their self but didn’t held.
I installed a MDF white coated batten to the wall to balance to the even weight. The job was finish in a short time frame.
Another successful job done in NE25 0 New Hartley.
Client had her open plan living room light fitting replaced and needed a hand with the termination and fixing it to the ceiling. As an added extra, the Client wanted to install the socket plate in the bedroom which had no plate on when I arrived.
Due to clients convenience I completed the socket first and tested before use. The light fitting had four cables requiring termination. I managed to complete both jobs swiftly. I do want to thank Kirsty and her partner for taking up my services on Sunday.
Please see my page Parker’s Domestic Services for all relative information on services provided, working areas and available working times.
Successful job completed this week. Client had removed previous ceiling light fitting in their dining room. All cables were loose and I had to investigate which wire was linked to the switch. This was done in record time! The client wanted the 3 bulb light feature which is shown in the attached photo installed and wired as soon as possible. I usually give estimates then do the job the following day or when best for myself and the customer but since the light fitting was removed and the client had no lights on that evening I did the job which took the total of 2 hours. This was majority time spent securing the two tiny screws into the bracket.
If anyone has any tips on fitting those small screws efficiently to the hanging bracket please comment with advise as that took way to long.
Other notes:
Five stars to the clients as they were very patient and didn’t mind me talking under my breath. Also, for their kind messages on the job and afterwards.
Another couple of jobs I have completed this week. (Please note: the customer requested the damaged tile to be left as it was and is going to be repainting the fence themselves.)
