So this is me, just about to enter a breakfast networking event for the first time. As an extraverted personality type, most people assume that I love a bit of networking. Truth is, like a lot of people, the thought of entering a room full of strangers, not knowing anyone, and trying to look like I’ve “totally got this” FILLS ME WITH DREAD! However, I did it – yay me! I entered the room, smiling, introduced myself to the host, walked to my table to put my stuff down, and tripped over a step! Right in the middle of a group of people, bags everywhere, arms flailing! It really proper hurt too as I landed on my knees. So, I’m trying to not cry from pain, but also not cry from humiliation and embarrassment!

Everyone was super nice and concerned. It’s amazing how it opens up the “that happened to me once at...”.

Well, that’s one way to break the ice, and a sure way to make an entrance!

Truth is, we can push ourselves out of our comfort zone, and we survive it – maybe without the added humiliation of falling over – but we survive it and we grow.

I look forward to going again next time The Ribbons Network Hampshire. I wonder if they’ll remember me????

A big shout out to all those who have come to the end of their exams!

My daughter has her last GCSE today, and I couldn’t be more proud of how she has applied herself.

I remember the summer of fun after GCSEs, and the young free spirit that could take on the world. These guys have so much potential, they are our future leaders, creating visions and shaping the world. I hope they all keep believing in themselves and go be the shining stars they can be.

Our beliefs about ourselves have the power to drive us forward to achieve, or derail us off course from our goals. Where do they come from and, more importantly, how do we change them to help ourselves succeed and reach our full potential?

Everyone has these challenges, and it can feel exasperating at times to deal with them.

There are some strategies you can learn to tune in to what is your inner narrative, and then overcome some of those unhelpful beliefs.

We are running a one-day course in Wi******er, where you will learn more about yourself, set yourself some goals and practice strategies to help you grow. The day is being run by two compassionate facilitators who have battled their own challenges.

Healthy Eating week runs from 10th to 14th June. We are being encouraged to give healthy eating a go.

Most of us make recurring aims to be more healthy; substitute the chocolate bar for an orange, drink less alcohol, and drink more water.
Some of us do it successfully, and some of us do it successfully for a while... and sometimes we just can’t get started.

If you are embracing a new healthier you this week, be prepared! Expect internal and external resistance, and have a plan in place to overcome the resistance.
If your colleague is off to the coffee shop at 11 for your morning catch up, latte and cake – have an answer prepared that you will buy a bottle of water instead, or suggest a walk around the block. Ask for their support. If your body is craving the regular 3pm sugar hit – be prepared with your alternative bag of nuts / seeds / fruit snack.

Always remember why you are doing this, have the pay off firmly in mind, that will motivate you when you waiver – and visualise how you will feel at the end of the week.

It’s not easy – we know it’s not – but with a little bit of anticipation of what your challenges will be, and some counter measures, you stand a better chance of success.

The ProAction team last week went through Self-Awareness training, run by our own Jo Hobbins.
Everyone learned something about themselves that they hadn’t considered before. Here we are prioritising our Values – working out which are most important to us. Then we reflected:
🤔 How do these impact our decision-making on a daily basis? 💡
❤️ How do they impact our emotions when we are living in accordance, (or not in accordance) with our values? 💔
👍 Which of our values have served us well recently, and which may not have? 👎
Spending time reflecting on our values, helped us understand why we behave or react in the way that we do, and appreciate how our colleagues are similar and different to ourselves.
So whilst we learned more about ourselves, we also came closer together as a team, a definite win win for our organisation. Can’t wait for the next session!
