Recent Habitation check saw me working on a sunchaser camper, these checks are a preventative measure and great to get done after your mobile home has been sat unused over the winter periods. A full habitation check involves checking for fire risk, damp problems, and ventilation and gas systems this is to make sure that everything is working correctly and safely for when you are in them, just as you would make sure everything is safe in your own home.

The cold weather mostly affects the plumbing which is what I came across on this check on more than one occasion.
When there is water left in the pipes and is stored outdoors over winter. The pipes in cold tempretures will expand and contract as the water within freezes and defrosts this causes the pipes to move and in some cases completely detach.

On this Hab check, I found that this had happened on the pipe supplying hot water to the vanity unit tap which would have caused a leak once the pump had been turned on. The cold water supply pipe to the toilet had disconnected, once the owner had connected to a water supply at a campsite this would have completely flooded their bathroom.

This hab check found these potential problems and solved them before the owners went away on their travels, there is nothing more stressful than getting away to relax and being faced with a flooded bathroom in the middle of nowhere.

The first bank holiday of the year, caravans are now coming out of storage and setting out on to the open road. This is when your finding issues, heating failing, flush not working and doors not locking are just a few of the call outs I've had so far this easter seeing me travelling all around the cotswolds.

I've also been busy with a few services, these are important and recommended to be done annually for general upkeep of your caravan. These ensure it’s safe and habitable for you and family when away from home and driving around on our busy roads.

Here are some pictures of the bearings on a caravan that have failed and got hot, which could cause serious damage and even cause the wheel to fall off when driving. This service has brought this to light and will now be replaced making it safe and giving peace of mind to the owner.
