COOK WITH HERBS AND SPICES. Skip the saltshaker and season your foods with herbs and spices instead. In addition to adding flavor to our meals, spices and herbs including garlic, and oregano can help bolster our immune system. Garlic, for example, contains antiviral properties and is good for immune-health and oregano may help fight bacteria.
Outsmart Your Brooding Ways
1. Fire the “What-ifs Committee” inside your brain. One of the most difficult tasks is talking yourself out focusing on the danger that (you think) threatens you. In reality, it is not menacing and may not even exist. Anxiety is not actually fear, because fear is based on something right in front of you, a real and objective danger. Becoming aware of defaulting to worst-case scenarios will help you avoid being trapped in an endless loop of what-ifs.
2. Control your inner dialogue. Check your vocabulary for unhealthy words such as hate, stupid, always, never, ugly, unlovable, defective, and broken. Replace black-or-white language with more neutral terms.
3. Fall in love with the Cognitive-Behavioral Triangle. Anxious people often feel “attacked” by their feelings. In reality, feelings come after a thought. Being aware of your thought process is crucial, especially because some thoughts are core beliefs, or internalized scripts that are ingrained and automatic. If you struggle with overreacting in the heat of the moment, it’s likely because unhealthy feelings lead to the same ol’ unhealthy behaviors. Remember the following diagram:
Thoughts —> Feelings —> Behaviors
Several types of CBD are available. Here’s a breakdown of each:
CBD isolate. Some products contain pure CBD, also known as CBD isolate. This contains only CBD and no other substances from the cannabis plant.
Broad-spectrum CBD. This type of CBD contains most cannabinoids from the cannabis plant without any THC. These products should also include other cannabis compounds, like flavonoids and terpenes.
Full-spectrum CBD. Products labeled full-spectrum contain all cannabinoids from the cannabis plant, including low levels of THC (less than 0.3 percent for h**p-derived products). They also include terpenes and flavonoids.

BE GOOD TO YOUR GUT. Include fermented foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, and miso soups for gut health. Other fermented foods to include in your diet include pickles and kimchi. These foods tend to be high in sodium, so a little bit goes a long way.
Incorporate structure into every day. A lack of scheduled activities and inconsistent routines can increase feelings of helplessness and a loss of control over the direction of your life. Adding a plan to your day can help you regain that sense of control and decrease the feeling that you’re just a passive participant in life.
Everyone has a cell-signaling system known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
Some researchers think that CBD interacts with a core component of the ECS — endocannabinoid receptors in your brain and immune system.
Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells. They receive signals, mostly chemical ones, from different stimuli and help your cells respond.
This response creates anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects that help with pain management. This means that CBD oil and other products may benefit people with chronic pain, such as chronic back pain.
One 2018 review assessed how well CBD works to relieve chronic pain. The review looked at studies conducted between 1975 and March 2018. These studies examined various types of pain, including:
cancer pain
neuropathic pain
fibromyalgia
Based on these studies, researchers concluded that CBD was effective in overall pain management and didn’t cause negative side effects.

STEER CLEAR OF HEALTH HALOS! Foods with these labels are not necessarily healthier—Gluten-free, organic, low-fat, and vegan. After all, organic cookies are still cookies, and a vegan muffin is still…yes, a muffin.
Leave the future where it belongs. Just as the living in the past leads to depression, fearing or worrying about the future contributes to anxiety. Daily stress and frustration are primarily caused by persistent feelings of overwhelm caused by uncertainty. Chronic worriers tend to catastrophize and before you know it, every headache is a brain tumor, and every romantic rejection is proof that you’re fated for a life of solitude.
Action plan: Have faith in uncertainty, and in life. A good way to practice is by cultivating a state of mindfulness each and every day. When you learn to intentionally redirect your mind to what is happening in the here and now, you’ll increase your mental energy reserves so you can spend more time on enjoyable tasks.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune condition that affects the entire body through the nerves and brain.
Muscle spasms are one of the most common symptoms of MS. These spasms can be so strong they cause constant pain in some people.
One report found that short-term use of CBD oil could reduce the levels of muscle spasms a person feels. The results are modest, but many people reported a reduction in symptoms. More studies on humans are needed to verify these results.

DECLUTTER YOUR KITCHEN. Keep the cookies and cakes stashed away so that they are less tempting. Keep the berries, baby carrots, and other healthy foods front and center.
Resist the urge to live in the past. Time spent reliving, rewriting and recreating the past is like purchasing a one-way ticket to the dark depths of despair. This insidious mental habit is as much a threat to emotional wellbeing as any. Self-loathing or blaming others will not get you on the right side of feeling better, any more than believing the answer is found at the bottom of a bottle of Jack Daniels. You cannot do life differently if you don’t change your thought process.
Action plan: Commit to a new way of thinking and you will commit to a new way of being.
This study was done on mice. The scientists injected small amounts of zymosan into the paws of the mice. Zymosan is a chemical scientists use to illicit sterile and controlled inflammation. They measure the inflammation using three metrics: measuring swelling, mechanically poking the paw, and measuring TNF-a levels in the mice.
After the mice’s paws were inflamed, they started giving the mice varying doses of cannabidiol, aspirin, and tramadol and began measuring the anti-inflammatory properties of each drug.
The results
The cannabidiol outperformed both aspirin and tramadol in both anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive properties. Aspirin hung in there, tramadol basically didn’t help anything.
Takeaways and interesting points in this study:
The CBD was administered by intraperitoneal injection and orally. The benefits of CBD were more efficient with the intraperitoneal injection, with 5 mg CBD/ kg body weight.
Higher doses of CBD, 25mg/kg and 50mg/kg were less effective at stopping inflammation than 5 mg/kg. I thought that was interesting.
They did the experiment with pure CBD as well as whole plant CBD extract. As expected, the whole plant extract was about 5x more efficient than pure CBD. With oral administration, it took about 50mg of pure CBD to get the same results of 10 mg whole plant extract.
The aspirin hung in there and performed well.
The tramadol didn’t do anything. I would recommend no one ever take tramadol for any reason. It’s strangely addictive and doesn’t help with pain. I don’t really even know why it exists and is still prescribed for anything.

ENJOY MORE HEART-HEALTHY OMEGA-3 FATS. Try eating more foods which contain omega-3s like salmon, tuna, walnuts, flax, h**p and chia seeds. I love to toss a handful of walnuts into my salad and add ground flaxseeds into my yogurt.
Focus on what you’re doing right. As rough as your life is right now, you haven’t fallen off the edge, and this is not just by chance. Key is to remember that humans are remarkably resilient and capable. Because depression can cloud your judgment, it can be tempting to overemphasize the negative aspects of situations, while discounting the positives.
Action plan: At the end of the day, write down three things you did well. No need to overthink this, and no act of taking the high road is too small. For example, “When my coworker emailed the budget proposal, he forgot to cite a source. Rather than get upset, I spent two minutes researching the answer and added the information myself.
CBD has a wide spectrum of biological activity, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, which is why its activity in the prevention and treatment of diseases whose development is associated with redox imbalance and inflammation has been tested . Based on the current research results, the possibility of using CBD for the treatment of diabetes, diabetes-related cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular diseases (including stroke, arrhythmia, atherosclerosis, and hypertension), cancer, arthritis, anxiety, psychosis, epilepsy, neurodegenerative disease (i.e., Alzheimer’s) and skin disease is being considered .Analysis of CBD antioxidant activity showed that it can regulate the state of redox directly by affecting the components of the redox system and indirectly by interacting with other molecular targets associated with redox system components.

PRE-PORTION YOUR SNACKS. Pre-portioning snacks in advance or having measuring cups handy helps you manage how much you nibble on. It’s easy to eat an entire jar of nuts mindlessly. Keeping a quarter cup measuring cup around helps you to gauge a 1-oz serving as does pre-portioning your favorite nuts and storing them in Ziploc baggies.
Beware of rumination. The word "ruminate" derives from the Latin meaning for chewing cud, a less than appetizing process in which cattle grind up, swallow, then regurgitate and rechew their feed. In the human realm, ruminators analyze an issue at length (think “emotional vomiting.”). Many ruminators remain in a depressive rut because their negative outlook hinders their problem-solving ability.
Action plan:
Remind yourself that rumination does not increase psychological insight.
Take small actions toward problem-solving.
Reframe negative perceptions of events and high expectations of others.
Let go of unhealthy or unattainable goals and develop multiple sources of social supports.
Histamine Intolerance is a condition in which your body produces more histamine and inflammation than it should or has difficulty breaking it down, leading to increasing build-up over time. This causes a number of uncomfortable symptoms, both allergenic in nature and also relating to the digestive system.
It would seem that CBD, being derived from cannabis (a pollinating plant that could be allergenic in nature), should therefore aggravate these symptoms.

TAKE A 22-MINUTE NATURE WALK OR RUN. Ever since Gretchen Reynolds from The New York Times wrote about a study on the health benefits of taking an “awe walk,” —observing small wonders around you during a walk–I’ve spent more time observing the beauty of nature and my surroundings. I invite you do the same. It’s good for your health, your heart, and your mood.
Make healthy thoughts the most important part of your day: Rewire negative or unhealthy thoughts with four actions: 1. Ask yourself, ‘Is this thought based in reality?’ 2. If yes, choose three actions to remedy your situation. 3. If no, remember your negative bias is working against you (when recalling a situation, our memories tend to default to the negative events, and discount the positive events). 4. Fire the Negative Committee inside your brain. Embrace healthy, realistic thinking. Positivity is where it’s at.
Mammals have an inbuilt system in their bodies called the endocannabinoid system, which is believed to modulate the central nervous system and maintain homeostasis between physiology, cognition, and emotion. CBD interacts directly with this system, which may suggest why it seems to assist individuals in managing stress levels and improving their general mood.
One of the ways it does this is by changing the way your brain responds to serotonin, a hormone associated with stabilising mood and happiness.

THINK TWICE BEFORE GRABBING FOODS HIGH IN ADDED SUGAR. Added sugar is found in sugar sweetened beverages and hidden in packaged foods like breads, snack foods, yogurts, sauces, salad dressing, and breakfast cereal. For the good news, added sugar is now listed on food labels so they are easy to spot. (Note: Naturally occurring sugar in fresh fruit is super healthy.)
Have a healthy skepticism about what you see on social media. Remember you’re viewing ‘edited reality.’ That sun-soaked scenic shot of the happy couple vacationing in Hawaii only shows a moment in time. Who knows how many pics didn’t make the cut before it, or how much of reality is filtered-out?
Those who suffer from depression commonly also suffer from some form of anxiety, and the same is true in reverse. There is a growing body of evidence to support the belief that CBD exhibits anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties in many individuals.

SWAP REFINED GRAINS FOR WHOLE GRAINS. No, you don’t have to ban starches and grains to get healthier or lose weight. Carbs are your friend! You just want to choose the healthier version. Instead of white bread, white rice, and white pasta, choose whole wheat bread, brown rice, soba noodles, and oatmeal.
Limit your time spent bowing in silent prayer to the iPhone. Constantly checking email, texts and social media updates contributes to distraction, frazzled nerves, social comparisons, and a lack of productivity.
The nature of this question can only be answered if you address the many different factors that contribute to an overall case of depression. Not all types of depression are the same, and different individuals will manifest different symptoms. Generally, although relatively limited, there is some scientific evidence to suggest the effectiveness of using CBD to treat depressive conditions at their core.
However, there is more evidence to suggest CBD's effectiveness at treating a number of other mental health problems commonly experienced in conjunction with depression. Assisting in the various secondary conditions may indirectly contribute to the management of depression and the lifting of the overall quality of life.

BREATHE MORE DEEPLY. Breathing properly is so important for optimal health. So often, especially when we are anxious, we take short shallow breaths. Instead, try this: Breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 4 seconds, and breathe out for 4 counts. And repeat twice. I try to focus on my breath when I practice yoga.
Find a balance of structure that works for your lifestyle. If you’re Type A, do less, and if you’re prone to depression, do more. One of the best ways to get your groove back is to move rhythmically — not too fast, and not too slow.
The dosage of CBD that works for your pain will depend on the amount/percentage of CBD in the product, how you take it (whether by mouth, inhalation, or topical application) and your body weight and chemistry (several websites offer CBD calculators to determine a starting dose). The best thing is to speak with your doctor or a budtender (essentially a dispensary pharmacist) before choosing a CBD dosage. If your doctor does not recommend a dose, it is best to start small and gradually increase the dose from there until you achieve the desired effect.

ROAST YOUR VEGGIES. I love roasted veggies and enjoy them quite often. For a change from steamed veggies which are bland and boring for many of us, you can roast whatever veggies you have in your fridge—broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and red pepper and zucchini to name a few. For a healthy—and filling—starch option, you can also roast sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Just go easy on the oil and you won’t have to worry about the calories.
Look for the good in others. Look for the good in yourself.
That depends on how you take your CBD oil. The most predictable consumption method is sublingual (under the tongue) using a spray or tincture. According to the American Arthritis Foundation, effects are usually felt within 15 to 45 minutes.
**p4princeworcester **p4prince
CREATE STRUCTURE. One of the most difficult parts of working from home (which many of us are doing these days!) is the lack of structure. So, I urge you to create a structure for your meals— plan when, what and how much you are going to eat, along with when you will exercise, and try to stick to it as best as possible.
Designate 15-20 minutes per day to worry, or schedule it, preferably near the end of your work/school day. Chances are when 4:45 pm rolls around, you’ll be otherwise occupied and realize that your worries aren’t so pressing.
There is no one best CBD oil for pain. The type will depend on your pain condition, how you consume the CBD, and your body chemistry. An important consideration will be whether the oil is a CBD isolate, a full spectrum extract, or a broad spectrum extract. It is also important to know you are buying a trustworthy product, especially because the CBD market is not regulated.
