Following the dissolution of all Parliamentary groups due to the General Election at the beginning of this month, the All Party Parliamentary Group for Jazz held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday. The awards will take place in October.

I was recently contacted by Simon Spillett. The ensuing discussion reminded me of the only Tubby Hayes record in my collection, so I dug it out and gave it a spin for what I guess was the first time in over 20 years! I was particularly fond of Finky Minky when I first got this LP.

The quartet features Tony Levin on drums, whose son Miles Levin will be performing with Butcher’s Brew at The Marrs Bar tomorrow.
