WE ARE BACK!!

I would like to say we have spent a few weeks relaxing and reflecting but in actual fact we have been sorting through mountains and mountains of s**t!!!

Anyway… we are back with events and did a lovely event for 22 people on Saturday night. 3 courses of Ed’s finest.

Hello everyone
With very heavy heart we are sorry to say our little cafe on Friar Street is now closed.

It’s broken our hearts to have to do this but we’ve been left with little choice I’m afraid. You all know and understand how tough it is at the moment out there - rising costs and less dosh in our pockets.

44 Friar St has been our extended home for over two years and we’ve loved it. We’ve made friends, cooked & baked food we’re proud of, welcomed and looked after some truly amazing people, had the pleasure of working with some amazing people & have loved being apart of Friar Street

We’ve had to make a really quick decision and close though. We never want to dwindle on souring decent ingredients or raise our prices too much but this economic situation has, well, had the better of us. We also need to keep our fantastic children in mind too as we do struggle to spent enough time with them.

What’s next? Well, our event side of the business is going to have a nap over the winter so we can regroup and come back next year for event catering and pop ups.

Whoever the next custodians of this wonderful building are we wish you the best of luck and hope you have a lot of success

The kitchen is full of ‘em! We have squash soups, squash flatbreads and what ever else Eddie can squeeze a squash into!

It’s all change here. We sadly said bye to Isaac this week! And what a sport he was.

Nancy will be taking two weeks off to settle our daughter into school.

We have a new team here who will be fab. It does however take a little time to get into the swing of things so please bare with us. This hospitality lark can be tricky at times especially with such a small team who also have little people to look after.

Setup to support chefs and smash the stigma of mental health in our fine industry we think this is great - well done chaps!

We’ve possibly been there and almost certainly seen people struggle and burn themselves out which is prevalent in the kitchen.

Thanks to all that came last night.

As always our food is massively influenced by the seasons so last night was a very heavily Italian inspired ‘family dinner in the sun’
