Enforcing the drink and drug drive law is a year round commitment for us and takes place 24/7.
Did you know, we can detect drivers who are under the influence of
drugs with testing kits at the side of the road?
Don’t take a chance
Supporting people who need a little bit of extra help into work is so important.
I was delighted to be asked to speak today at the launch of the Inclusive Worcestershire internship bursary scheme. This new money will support those with an EHCP (what was called a statement) to get the extra bit of help they need to get a job. It provides up to £1000 for travel, tools, uniforms or other essential.
Well done to the Worcestershire Skills team for their work developing this. If you know of someone this could help please contact: [email protected]
❗️ Courier fraud is when victims receive a phone call from a criminal who is pretending to be a police officer or bank official.
🤔 Don’t assume a phone call is authentic just because someone knows your name and address.

Worcester’s new bridge takes shape.
Really exciting today to be at the lift of the largest piece of the new Kepax Bridge. The two 500 ton cranes slowly lifted the pylon into place. This will be a fantastic new piece of infrastructure for our city and I’m delighted to be playing my part as the County Cabinet member in making it happen.
❗️We’re urging you to be on your guard against fraudsters operating cost of living scams such as falsely offering scam energy discount texts.
Criminals are experts at impersonating people. Stop, think as it could protect you and your money.

Good advice on keeping the fraudsters at bay.
🎄🎅 This festive season, Action Fraud will be highlighting a different fraud type every day to help you keep your money safe and out of the pockets of criminals this Christmas so you can enjoy a .
Such a sad event but this post provides useful information about looking out and being careful around the bridge. The swans are so much part of Worcester that we need to do all we can to conserve them.
Small businesses are the lifeblood of our City. I’ve been out this morning meeting owners and saying thank you for all they do to make Worcester the special place it is. Anja Potze Fine Jewellery Ltd Toys & Games Of Worcester
Yesterday the Minister of State for Health Andrew Stephenson MP visited Worcester and met with me and our current MP Robin Walker to help celebrate the success of meeting the government’s target of 50,000 extra nurses in the NHS ahead of target.
Mr Stephenson visited the Three Counties Medical School at Worcester University as part of his trip to the City which coincided with the government hitting the target set in its 2019 manifesto.
Data published yesterday morning by NHS England shows there were 51,245 additional nurses in September 2023 compared to 2019. This means the number of nurses has increased from 300,904 in 2019 to over 352,000 – hitting the government’s manifesto commitment to recruit an additional 50,000 nurses six months early.
Our NHS is so vital to our society and delivering the biggest boost in nursing numbers will make a big impact on our mission to get waiting times down and deliver the high-quality care patients rightly expect.
I was also able to thank him for the extra £25m investment in the Emergency department at the Worcestershire Royal as well as make the case for further support to help improve access to NHS dentistry in the City.
It was great to be invited to meet the senior team at Worcester Bosch today and talk about their challenges and what they need from government.
They are Worcester’s biggest private sector employer and a great local success story. As our MP, supporting them and businesses like them would be one of my top priorities.
This afternoon I visited Worcester City FC to support the White Ribbon campaign to end violence against women and girls. We must do all we can to eliminate this from our City and society.
Today the message from residents in Warndon was clear. They want to see the return of the Saturday Skip service which Labour and Greens removed earlier this year. Help me to persuade the Council to reverse this decision.
While it was cold this morning the response on the doors in Warndon was very warm.
I cannot believe this is true but according to the Worcester Observer the local Labour Party are refusing to call the attack on Israel an act of terrorism. Surely this isn’t true?
Gigabit broadband coverage in Worcester smashes 80% mark!
Even more people in Worcester can benefit from high-speed internet due to the area’s infrastructure having been upgraded to deliver gigabit capable broadband.
Worcester has exceeded 80% coverage and looks set to meet the Government’s 85% target by 2025. The gigabit broadband coverage figure for the city is 80.48%, higher than the national average of 78.88%.
Our digital infrastructure has been significantly improved through a combination of private and public investment to futureproof our network – something which will make a real difference to our city.

Today is the launch of the new Worcester version of the ever popular Monopoly. Good luck to Toys&Games in the City.
Until last year the City Council gave free parking on certain days in the run up to Christmas to encourage visitors and support our local retailers. I think they should bring the free parking back. What do you think? (Photo when i introduced the free parking as council leader)

In my role as Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner I’m always looking out for new ideas and products that will help stop criminals.
We already support smartwater type products that invisibly mark items and make them easier to trace but do you have any ideas on new ways of deterring the thieves and reducing shoplifting?
We are relentlessly driving up standards in our schools.
Today 89% of schools are now rated good or outstanding, up from just 68% under Labour.
Labour would reverse this progress - they can't be trusted with our children's education.
I’m pleased to see real wage increases returning as inflation eases. It’s still too high, but bringing inflation down benefits everyone, especially those with the lowest incomes.
An early morning start at the Guildhall today hearing from Severn Trent Water about their investment plans. Good to hear they are seeking to increase treatment capacity and reduce the need for storm discharges.
I also pointed out that when working on the highway they need to do more to reduce their impact on road users. They agreed to try harder to minimise disruption.
A mix of public and private duty today. I laid a wreath on behalf of the PCC in Worcester and also paid my respects to my great-grandfather (E Dayus) who is remembered on the honour board in the Guildhall.
Bennetts ice cream is definitely one of the best things about our City. A truly local business producing a fantastic product. Long may it continue.
We really do love our city, and our community.
Through all seasons (apart from potentially flooding season in January 😂) Worcester really is a beautiful place full of amazing people! So, let's use today to shout about our city. What's your favourite place to visit? Favourite place to eat? Best photo? Favourite historical fact? To you, what makes Worcester, Worcester??
Fantastic to be able to share in the celebration of so many people completing their apprenticeships tonight at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training HWGTA awards. Many Worcester businesses benefiting from this training.
New signage has gone up to help people access Redditch Police’s temporary home in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.
Members of the public can find us on Level 8 of the shopping centre where we have a landing area with seating. Lift access is available too.
There is no front counter at this temporary location but if you ring our doorbell an officer will be out to help you as soon as possible.
Alternatively, please feel free to use the new digital kiosk positioned outside. You can use this just the same as our website to report crimes, contact your local policing team, or find out information about our work in your communities.
PCC John Campion worked with us to ensure officers remain at the heart of the community while a new joint police and fire hub is being built.

An early morning visit to the site of the new kepax Bridge in Worcester to speak to the BBC. A key day for the project as the large pylon steels are coming and a 300 ton crane to put the bridge in place. Great to see this project coming together.

This is such an important issue with too many local people taking their own lives each year. We need to collectively do more to identify and help those contemplating su***de.

A really good response today in Claines. Thank you to the team for their help. People are noticing the negative changes the Labour and Green administration are making to our City.
