Fitted a callorifier to a BMC 1.5 and replaced a leaking coolant hose. Now creates domestic hot water and runs at correct temperature.
This Thornycroft engine wouldnt crank over. The starter motor was repaired, a new set of heater plugs fitted.
This barrus shire would crank over but not fire up, found water had gotten into the fuel injection pump and it wasn't delivering fuel to 3 out of 4 injectors. Pump removed and fully reconditioned. Once rebuilt the engine started first time.
New updated stearing system fitted
Found out why the engine couldn't be started. The ring gear on the flywheel was badly damaged. Replacement flywheel sourced and fitted with a new damper plate while it was accessible.
Called out to an overheating FSD 2.5, found a leaking core plug to be the cause. Sourced the correct size and fitted.
Here's a Volvo Penta that was running hot. We found a few obstructions in the raw water cooling circuit such as sealant from a previous repair and mussel shells. Now both engines run at the correct temperature.
A very badly contaminated diesel tank. New inspection cover cut out, tank thoroughly cleaned and then sealed/tested.
New stearing rams, new stearing hoses, new tilt/trim hoses, bellows, anodes on the Volvo Penta DPH outdrive.
Full engine service and oil cooler rebuild (after finding it leaking badly and uncovering the old failed repair) on Volvo Penta D4 260 diesel
No wonder it wouldn't run well. Here's a mercruiser 2bbl carburetor that we fully rebuilt.
Here's a beautiful double shower we crafted
Here's the new instrument panel we crafted for customer with a BMC 1.5
This is why anodes are fitted and should be of the right type. Prop has seen better days but fortunately the outdrive was fine.
Its now got new anodes of the right type, fresh oil and new prop on the way.
Few more of the fully re-painted hood with new decals.
We have another Mastervolt 3.5kva whisper marine generator in for rebuild. This one has had water inside the engine from its water cooled exhaust. Its caused a bent pushrod, light rusting of the cylinder liner and a broken key that holds the flywheel onto the crankshaft.
We have also supplied and fitted a replacent Honda 9.9 four stroke outboard.here is the hood that we refurbished.
We have fitted a new propeller, anodes and gear shift cable on a sealine cruiser, re-wired a BMC 1.8 engine loom to control panel, replaced both power trim solenoids on a mercruiser alpha generation two, replaced the propeller on an OMC 1977 "pindrive" outdrive which has involved designing a special nut to
secure the drive pin, and fitted a brand new Vector 9.9 outboard..
Well, where to start! :-)
We have fitted new control cables, anode and fuel gauge to a
Sea Ray with Mercury 115hp two stroke.
We have completely stripped down/rebuilt a Yamaha 9.9hp four
stroke and a Yamaha 25hp two stroke autolube. manually
cleaned out every part of the water cooling passages on both
engines, checked the oil pressure on the four stroke (60psi)
after rebuild, oil injection pump on the two stroke was found to
have a loose feed pipe from the oil reservoir (could have failed
causing engine to seize)
We have fitted a new gear shift cable to a High bridge cruiser
with a Tohatsu 15hp, and adjusted the reverse lock latch so the
engine doesn't kick up in reverse gear.
We have been very privileged to be assigned to re-manufacture
the whole drive shaft assembly on a Marina owned narrow boat
which will be at Crick Boat Show.
Its been a busy few weeks :-) Honda BF25 hp serviced, Yamaha 25 hp autolube serviced, a few control cables replaced, 12 leisure batteries replaced (not all on one boat) Bmc 1.8 cylinder head and gasket replaced (had it stripped down, parts found, rebuilt and running same day) perkins 3152 injectors overhauled, and lots of other little jobs.
Well that was a fantastic few days off :-) now back too it.
Got a Yamaha 50hp two stroke, a Honda 25hp four stroke and an Evinrude 60hp E-TEC to service.
Two Volvo Penta 5.7litre petrol v8 serviced, a Volvo Penta AQ280 outdrive reverse latch repaired, a Honda 9.9 four stroke outboard lower gear case overhauled, a Russell Newbery serviced, a Volvo Penta 4.3litre petrol v6 serviced and lots of very happy customers :-D
Its looking to be a busy month :-) everything from Izuzu 42, Honda outboards, through to a Russell Newbery.
Well we have completely stripped down the bow thruster motor and relays, all the components were in very poor condition mechanically due to the water/moisture in the operating environment. Slowly cleaning up and re-assembling. Any suspect or faulty components will be replaced before a thorough bench test. The locker lid will have a water proof seal installed as well as an automatic bilge pump at the lowest part of the locker as a back up.
Here is a Vetus electric bow thruster fitted to a wide beam boat. Its been working intermittently and has now stopped working. First thing noted was alot of water in the locker around the thruster, this is rain water getting in past the lockers cover. Some bad corrosion of battery terminals and the motors brush gear. The control circuit tests out fine and the relays to switch the high current supply from the batteries to the motor test out fine. Motor removed for complete overhaul and inspection.
This is a raw cooling water pump from a Mastervolt 3.5kva generator. The pump was completely rebuilt with the main body being re-machined internaly to take out the wear grooves. The main generator windings were rewound for us, and the rotor checked. Everything was then re-assembled and run up on a test bed to ensure it was functioning correctly, before installing back into the customers boat.
Here we have a cratch that we have altered for the customer. It was solid planked pitch pine, however to let more light in it has had two glazed panels added. A bit of restoration work also as there was some small packets of rot in old badly filled screw holes. These were cleaned out, treated and filled before primer, undercoat and finaly top coat were applied.
Here we have a Mercury 25hp Red band two stroke, this came in because it wouldnt start. It had no spark at the plugs so all electrical connections were cleaned and protected, and this then produced a spark on one plug only. (two cylinder engine) further investigation found the one of the flywheel magnets had come loose. This was fixed back in the correct possition. The carburetor was also fully rebuilt. The engine then started and ran beautifullyae
Here is the ignition coils of a Johnson 9.5hp two stroke outboard from 1964! The old coils had badly damaged isulation and weren't creating a spark. New ones fitted and it started 😊
Here is a tiller stearing arm that we fabricated for fitting onto an outboard engine on a 23 foot narrowboat. The one in black with the wooden handle was the original but this was broken where it attached to the outboard engine. A new mounting plate was also fabricated to bolt through the main casing of the outboards existing mounting holes.
