November 26th and 27th a weekend of Beetleweight carnage coming to Edinburgh.

Format for the event will be Saturday is fight night, potentially 4 rounds of random fights with the championship tournament on Sunday. We aim to finish at 3 on Sunday more details to come.

We are limiting to 1 robot per team to allow 50 teams. If you have any extra robots you do want to sign up put them as reserves and they will get added before the day. The venue is a limited capacity so can only have 50 team.

It is with great disappointment that we are announcing the cancellation of our Leicester event. We can only apologies to those who have made travel plans and accommodation. We will make an announcement soon regarding the whole situation but wanted to let people know as soon as possible so they can work on get refunds on things.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM UK BEETLEWEIGHT, HOBBYWEIGHT & FEATHERWEIGHT EVENT ORGANISERS

As you should be aware, the UK beetleweight, hobbyweight & featherweight ruleset dictates a tip speed limit on all spinners of 250mph. This limit is set for purely safety reasons, as we are reaching the limits of what some of our arenas can currently handle with some recent near breaches. If we cannot run events with a guarantee of safety, we should not be running events full stop. No robot is worth more than the safety of the people in attendance.
To this end we have been disappointed by recent events where it has been found that some may intentionally be operating above this. We have worked on a trust system for some time now but unfortunately and hopefully understandably this must now change, putting a larger workload on our event staff.
We will be paying particular attention to spinner tip speeds going forward, using multiple methods including but not limited to asking for theoretical tip speed calculations, spot checks of components, tachometer readings, transmitter inspections and frequency monitoring using microphones in the arena.
It goes without saying that anyone failing or refusing to take part in any of these checks will get a unified ban from all our events for a set time period (up to permanently) and evidence given to the FRA should they wish to take it beyond an event ban. It is the roboteers responsibility to ensure they are compliant with safety rules at all times. Honest mistakes may be excused at the discretion and judgment of the event organiser. We know this will only apply to and affect the smallest minority of people and on the whole, you, our community, are incredibly supportive of upholding all safety rules, and we thank you wholeheartedly for your continued support of our events as without your assistance it just wouldn’t be possible.

BBB: Tip Speed Calculator If you're unsure of pulley diameters but know your reduction ratio, use this instead. For example 5:1 ratio, put 5 as the output pulley and 1 as the motor pulley.

For any who has applied entry fees are due ASAP also those who attend scouse showdown we will accept that as proof of mobility.

We are 1 day from our sign ups for our Leicester event on June 25th. Our sign ups will go live at 7:30pm over on Rampage. Be sure that you have created an account and added the robot you wish to sign up with on you team.

At 7pm tomorrow with post a link that will take you straight to the sign up page so keep your eyes peeled you won't be logged in remember to leave time for that.I

So we are happy to announce that sign ups for our event in Leicester will open at 7.30pm on April 2nd. Just under 2 weeks till then so get thinking about builds and robots you want to enter any questions feel free message us.

1 Week today we have yet another announcement........ Watch this space.

As posted last week we are back. Last week we booked a venue for our first event back. The event will be held in Leicester at St Annes Church And Community Hall. Held on the Saturday 25th June 2022. we will be opening entry on Saturday 2nd April at 7.30pm. We are hoping for a 48 robot competition.
