The face behind the bakes and a little about me…

My name is Sian and I live in Wrexham with my partner Damian, stepson Matthew and our little dog Izzie 🤍

I started baking during lockdown whilst struggling to finish my last year at uni studying an animal studies course. I ended up finishing the course with a foundation degree which I’m proud of 🦒🐘

I’m a self taught baker 👩🏼‍🍳 I have a level 2 food and hygiene certificate and I’ve carried out an allergens course which I refresh on every year. I also have a 5 star hygiene rating at my home kitchen bakery! A lot of hard work and tears paid off but still continues ⭐️

I currently bake part time and I have a part time office job. I’ve done all kinds of jobs from working at Mecca Bingo, working and living in New Zealand for 7 months and working for the NHS. I’ve loved gaining so much diverse experience 😃

Being self taught and a small business owner brings challenges. There’s a lot of competition out there so the “am I good enough”, “do I offer enough”, “am I advertising well”, “do my bakes taste good” - all these worries play a part in the solo running of Ginger Bear Cakes. I’m thankful for such supportive people and loyal customers for getting me through these times, they don’t know they do it sometimes but just a positive review and message helps 🫶

Things I’d like for the future…

🙌 to push my not so popular products more
🙌 to not compare - we are all amazing in our own way
🙌 to keep the dream alive
🙌 to keep offering the same excellent customer service and tasty bakes that I strive for every day

In June my little online cake business will be 3 years old 🎉 so keep an eye out for some g!veaways.

8th June 2024 - I will be at the Rhosddu fun day again with my stall 😃 last year was brilliant and it was a gorgeous day, so hopefully it will be the same this year! ☀️
