The H.A.C.K. Horse Sanctuary
The H.A.C.K. Horse Sanctuary is a Rescue-Rehabilitaion-Education Centre Nr Wrexham Wales, and full welfare members of The National Equine Welfare Council
Last December H.A.C.K. received a donation from for the renovation of our old donkey shed, and over the summer months Mr B has been working away on this project and has now finally finished, with fencing and all. So many thanks for the fab support we have had from the above trust. Oh, by the way, it seems the donkeys and been relegated to an other shelter and the mini Shetlands are now squatting in the new renovated build. love Pam x x
What a beautiful Autumn day it has been, wall to wall warm sunshine, perhaps the last fling before the winter sets in. (Unfortunately I had spent much of the day in the hospital where my very poorly sister is, but she is making progress, thank goodness)
We are getting ready for the winter and the dreaded mud....We have been lucky to secure a grant, thank to all Helen's hard work, to provide mud control mats, and how fabulous are they....Both Mr B and Helen have worked extremely hard laying the mats on sand bed, with a lot of wheel barrowing going on. Well done guys it will certainly make life easier.
Hope it is another nice day tomorrow, I really need some horse time. Get well soon Ali. Love Pam x x
When we have visitors at the sanctuary they always tell us what a beautiful and peaceful place it is, Well, I had a dream, and with help from volunteers past and present, it is a dream that has been achieved, 30 plus years of hard work, of good times and bad times, but a dream achieved. .A safe haven for the rescue of horses, ponies and donkeys, but today once again we had to accept that not every equid survives and we have to face heart breaking situations.
Sam, such a handsome boy with a character to match, loved by everyone...But, Sadly there was nothing more we could do for him and we couldn't allow him to suffer. Today was Sam's time to pass over the rainbow bridge....We take comfort from the fact that Sam has had a fabulous life here at H.A.C.K. well loved and taken care of, he wanted for nothing. Run Pain Free beautiful Boy, our hearts go with you, we love you very much....Love Pam x
Thanks to the support of Jane Anne Lloyd and Helen Zammit Wilson and of course Mr B. A sad day x x

We had another lovely Open Day and Dog Show yesterday and the weather although cloudy at least the rain stayed away until after the event. Thank you to all of you who came along and supported us, we hope that you enjoyed meeting all the animals, the dog Show ,And the cake, yes , the cakey bakey lady had been busy again. We all work extremely hard to make this a pleasant day, welcoming the local communities to our wonderful sanctuary. Finally - A special thanks to our sponsors who continue to support us .
I will get a final total when we have worked out the expenses of setting up the day. Love Pam x

This is sweet little Wren , a small mini Shetland cross that came into the sanctuary last year with 2 others mini's and a larger pony who was rescued from a large case. For the last few months they have all done really well making a good recovery.
Unfortunately this last week little Wren has developed Sweet Itch which is an allergy to the midge fly and has become quite chronic. It is a horrible condition that causes such misery to its sufferers . Here is Wren sporting her new sweet itch rug and mask, it is something that Wren will have to live with for the rest of her life and we will do everything we can to keep her comfortable. She will need another Ruggles rug and another fly mask plus lotions and potions. What a sweet little girl she is and as always we will do our best. Thanks to Layla and Cerys two of our Saturday girls for the photos. Love Pam x
It is getting towards that time of year when we start preparing for our annual Open Day which is on 1st September . There is quite an outlay to organise this day and we rely heavily on sponsorship to keep the sanctuary running and enabling us to continue to rescue those animals that need our help.
We are looking for sponsorship for our dog show classes and/or adverts in our programme. It is £10 for a dog show class and £25 for an advert. If you would like to support us then please get in touch. Love Pam x
Thank You so much for everyone's Birthday wishes. I had a lovely day, Helen mad a cake and the Saturday kids club sang Happy Birthday. How fab was that. Thank you for lovely prezzies. I am truly Blessed x x Pic is the beautiful Eli
And what could be a better treat for the piggies on such a hot day.. what's that's Hardy .....an ice cream too
It has been a good hot few days, and many farmers are out and about working all the long hours they can. My son Peter took his holidays this week to go and help his mate bring the hay in, some of which was made for the H.A.C.K. Shetland ponies. When Peter brought a trailer of sweet smelling hay to the sanctuary, volunteer Beth stayed to help unload it into the large Barn, who is pictured here on top of the bales, throwing them down to Bill, who by the way is 77 years old, whilst Peter stacked. Most people go to the beach or abroad for their holidays, but Peter spent his time helping a local farmer and the sanctuary, now that is dedication . As the saying is, you can take the boy out of farming but you can't take the farming out of the boy Thanks for your help Beth. Love Pam x x
Well, it has been a very hot day today, and the fly's certainly seem to be enjoying it, pesky little creatures, trying to change Sam's poultice with them buzzing around his legs is not easy.
Sam has been lame off and on these last 2 or 3 weeks, we have had both the farrier and the vet out but the abscess is being a little stubborn to say the least, the problem is that Sam has higher ringbone on his opposite leg and he is putting more pressure on this to relieve the pain on his abscess leg thus causing problems with his ringbone, such a viscous circle. It is quite a worry, Sam is a lovely 17 h.h. well built boy and well loved. Pictured here in his shelter that was sponsored and built by support of Prof. Derek Knottenbelt and the Vets with Horsepower team. Sam seems to really love this shelter and spends a lot of time in it. As always we will do our best for this lovely lad, so fingers crossed he recovers soon. Love Pam x x
Last week we welcomed visitors Jon Almond and Sarah from Johnsons Hotel and Restaurant Catering Linen by Stallbridge In Llay Wrexham. They came along to see the work we do, not only the rescue of horses and other animals but also our work within the community.
We would like to thank Jon and Sarah so very much for their kind donation to our wonderful charity, so from the whole H.A.C.K. team.
Thank you, your support has been greatly appreciated. love Pam. x

Our Fab Sanctuary
The H.A.C.K. Horse Sanctuary is a Rescue-Rehabilitation-Education Centre that is dedicated to the welfare of the horse.
Founded in March 1992 by Pamela Bluck it has grown from strength to strength into a successful small charity (no. 1025157). H.A.C.K. are also full welfare members of the National Equine Welfare Council, which means we have been fully inspected and passed the high criteria and standards that are required.
H.A.C.K. is unique in the fact that it is run entirely by volunteers who really are dedicated to the welfare of the horse. H.A.C.K. is fortunate in having Prof Derek Knottenbelt as advisor who has been of great support from the very beginning and also the late Graham Capper, law advisor and supporter, greatly missed.
H.A.C.K. also works within the community in many different ways from educational school visits, care home visits, Duke of Edinburgh awards, Saturday kids etc.
