The economy is broken! Trickle down economics is a fallacy. Interestingly "The Treasury declined to comment on the report."

So proud of my fellow Wymondham Town Councillors that we voted through the Climate Emergency Declaration last night. Despite the usual "don't see the point" and "it just sounds good" comments from the one objector and the urge from the abstainers to have the Town Clerk drive through carbon neutrality himself (while also project managing the improvements to Rothbury Park), common sense and the passion to address this crisis won the day.
I look forward to working with the talented and enthusiastic people of Wymondham to make a difference while the main parties backtrack.
The sooner we get a government willing to nationalise utilities, the sooner we end fuel poverty!
π British Gas has reported astronomical profits for the first six months of 2023.
πΈ Meanwhile, bills are increasing and people are struggling to make ends meet.
π€ NOW is the time for energy suppliers to be taken into public hands and run for people, not profit.
Looking forward to it....
It's more important than ever to take action.
Climate records tumble, leaving Earth in uncharted territory - scientists A series of records on temperature, ocean heat, and Antarctic sea ice are "unprecedented", some scientists say.

The government is failing us!π
Climate Change Committee says UK no longer a world leader The UK's statutory climate body criticises the government for backing new oil and gas projects.
One of the benefits of an early morning dog walk, before the pavements become too hot, is enjoying the peace and tranquillity of Wymondham. We are very lucky to be able to enjoy Tolls Meadow, the improving area near Friarscroft and the walk along the river at Becketswell. The Food and Drink festival is setting up and I'm looking forward to seeing what the local stall holders have to offer. .
UPDATED LIST OF STALLS!! Visit them all on Sunday 25th June, 10am-4pm at from Fairlands Street through to Market Street and not forgetting Queens Road Wymondham Makers Market. Remember there are road closures in place from 6am-6pm on that day. We look forward to seeing you. Bring your change.
βοΈ Happy !

Today is the longest day of the year and the start of astronomical summer in the northern hemisphere.
β¨ The word comes from the fact that the sun appears to stand still - from the Latin word for sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).
π³ Lush green landscapes, glorious sunshine, rainbows of wildflowers β a visit to the woods in the summertime is not to be missed!
What's your favourite thing to see in the summer months?
π₯ Keir Starmer won't commit to stopping the new Rosebank oil field.
π€― The Conservatives continue to push ahead with damaging environmental policies.
π Only the Green Party can be trusted to oppose all new oil & gas licences and invest in a fairer, greener economy.
Unbelievable! The government is planning to remove a ban on opening new coal mines from a bill that is going through Parliament as well as dropping changes to the bill which would have enabled small community energy projects to sell electricity directly to local homes. You could think they were being controlled by large energy companies who stand to profit from destroying the planet!
Ministers to block plans to ban new coal mines Measures to allow community projects to sell electricity directly to local homes are also set to be dropped.
LIBERTY LAUNCHES LEGAL ACTION AGAINST HOME SECRETARY FOR OVERRIDING PARLIAMENT ON PROTEST POWERS - Liberty Human rights organisation Liberty has started legal action against the Home Secretary Suella Braverman over new anti-protest legislation which it says that she is unlawfully bringing in by the back door despite not having been given the powers to do so by Parliament.
Labour unsurprisingly sided with the Tories to limit our right to protest. Green peer Baroness Jenny Jones led the motion with backing from the Lib Dems and a 50,000 strong petition.
Rather than addressing the issues of increasing poverty driven by rising rents, food and fuel prices, job insecurity and climate change, they are limiting our right to protest about them.
What is this country turning into?
IβM SO SORRY EVERYONE. WE CAME TOGETHER in our tens of thousands to try & stop the Government using an unprecedented abuse of power to restrict the publics right to protest. Over 55,000 of you supported us. Tonight ignored the publics outcry & shamelessly backed the Government in its outrageous & unprecedented abuse of power by ABSTAINING on the fatal motion tabled by Baroness Jenny Jones. I have always supported Labour but itβs refusal to join Lib dem Lords & a small band of brave others across the House in backing tonights fatal motion was a disgrace. has tonight supported the Government in restricting our right to protest. I promise I & many others did all we could to persuade to join us. Tonight they refused & sided with the Government - allowing it to restrict our right to protest & use an unprecedented abuse of power to get away with it. THIS IS NOT THE END. We shall continue the fight to protect democracy and will do it without if we must. I know each & every one of you will stand shoulder to shoulder with us
π€¦
π Boris Johnson has finally gone.
β οΈ But he did huge damage to our democracy during his time in Parliament.
π Greens do politics differently and we're demonstrating that there is a positive alternative to corrupt, selfish, one-party politics in the UK.
