Thought I’d explain a little more about what I do.
After studying media at college and university in the good old days when analogue was king and tape needed to be cut and spliced, I couldn’t find work in radio and so went down the route of Graphic Design which I also love. Graphics is still my day job 20 years later but my love of music never went away. When I stumbled across a local community station looking for presenters I saw an opportunity to finally work in radio and indulge my love of indie music. It’s a community station and so we all work for free which means we are all passionate about our shows. I’ve seen my confidence grow after a rough few years that really knocked me back. I’m speaking to bands and artists old and new on a weekly basis, going to more gigs than I did as a teenager and I’m loving every minute. I’m part of a fantastic station trying to entertain the community locally and online in a time when things are very financially difficult for us. I’m so proud of us and what we strive to be. We are a small team aiming big and I’d love it if you could listen in every now and again and share your feedback with us. I’m now honoured to have been invited onto the board of directors and given the role of Head of Programming. It’s my dream role and just goes to show that a 43 year old lone working parent can still achieve and strive to be what they always wanted to be. Never give up and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something.
We need to get the word out about our fab station based in South Norfolk. You can listen online, on smart speaker or on DAB around the Norwich area. My indie/alternative show is on at 12 noon on Thursdays and my funk and groove Friday night show starts at 7pm. I’m always keen to speak to emerging bands and established ones too! I have a new You Tube channel where the interviews are shown if you missed them being broadcast. All links are in my bio.
Music has got me through life and now I’m trying to pass that onto others and champion artists and bands in these strange times.
