York House of Prayer

It's almost here... we can't wait to worship and pray altogether tomorrow evening!

For a very special final Tabernacle, here is the schedule from 6pm until midnight. Whether for half an hour or the whole 6 hours, come along to celebrate with us and enjoy the beautiful presence of God! Let's go!

Here is an update from House of Prayer leader Sophie Dearden and her husband Richard:

“As many of you will already know, this is a special week as it marks the final HoP meetings and final Tabernacle on Friday 1st March 2024 before I step down from leading York House of Prayer and Richard and I move on from The Belfrey Church.

The House of Prayer ministry and The Belfrey have been an extremely important part of both mine and Richard’s life and discipleship with Jesus. We have learned many valuable things over the 14+ years that we have been part of this fellowship and thank God for all He has done!

It has been with much prayer and seeking the voice of God that we have made this decision, and we know with certainty and expectancy that He is asking us to step into a new season and a new assignment at this time and so our desire is to be obedient to Him! We value your prayer support and any prophetic insight as we do this together. And do pray for the leadership of The Belfrey as they decide the way forward for the House of Prayer ministry.

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to lead the House of Prayer for the last 5 and a half years. The Lord has been so faithful, and we will treasure the countless testimonies and memories made during that time: of zealous freedom in worship, people released to hear the voice of God, those who have learned to seek the face of God and intercede powerfully, many prophets released into their calling, radical healings and deliverances, shifts in the spiritual atmosphere over York and we could go on… It has been the deepest honour to pray day and night for the church, the city, the region, and the nations over the last 10 years as part of the House of Prayer team. I will never forget all I have learned from so many of you prayerful people who have shown me what it is to be devoted to Jesus. We are so grateful for those of you who have journeyed with us, worshipped into the early hours with us, and shared in all the wonderful things the Lord has done through the HoP over the years – thank you!! And a special thanks to those who have been part of the core HoP team, what an extraordinary group of fiery people who have served diligently and at great personal cost, to honour and worship the King and fight in prayer for our churches and our city. They will always have an extremely special place in our hearts and will remain firm, lifelong friends.

We will still be living in York, so if you would like to stay in contact then please do and we can update you with what we’ll get up to next as the Lord leads us into this exciting new chapter! Richest blessings from our family to yours, in Jesus’ mighty name, all for His glory.”

Here's what's going on at our final HoP event of the year! Come and join us. We're so excited and expectant and are sure the Lord is going to do deep, colourful and beautiful things. Let's worship Him with zeal and fervour and seek Him with all our heart!

Come and join us for our final York HoP event before the summer! We’ll be pressing into God’s presence for 12 hours, 7 til 7. Friday 21st through to Saturday 22nd July.

7pm-9pm: Awake! School of Worship and Prayer, Teaching:
Sophie will be speaking to us on how to cultivate deeper intimacy with the Lord and push past barriers to have radical encounters with Him.

9pm-7am: Tabernacle:
This is a chance to put into practice what we’ve just been learning and go deeper with the Lord, pressing into His presence with worship and prayer through the night. God loves it and often rewards us for sacrificing late nights and early mornings to minister to Him! We’ve got lots of worship leaders from churches across the city who’ll be helping to lead us in following what the Spirit wants us to do. Come for a bit or all of it!

7am: Breakfast!
We’ll finish the event by having breakfast together! If you’ve been around all night or just for an hour, you’re so welcome to join us as we do fellowship together and thank the Lord for all He’s done. Do let us know closer to the time if you’ll be coming.

We’re so excited and expectant, as always. God is great and He will do great things. See you there!

Our next Awake! teaching is on Friday 21st July, at 7pm.

Sophie will be teaching on cultivating a new norm of pressing in deeper and deeper with the Lord, knowing Him more and having life-changing encounters with Him. Deep cries out to deep! Sometimes there are things that get in the way of this, so we’ll look at how to push past those in a practical way when it comes to prayer and worship.

We'll follow with a Tabernacle through the night, with plenty of opportunities to practice pushing through and going into places of deeper and deeper intimacy with the Lord.

Our June Tabernacle is this Friday, starting at 6pm. Come along and worship and minister to the Lord with us!

As we've been praying as a team, we're very expectant to encounter Jesus, as His bride, and get washed in the Word of the Lord.

So, come for a bit, or all of it!

Ephesians 5:25-27
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless."

Diving deep into the 2 Samuel 6 scripture, you’ll find out how to go from being the occupied audience, to the occupying army, looking at breaking free from fear, pride, being ruled by human agendas and unforgiveness, and stepping out into being fervent, zealous worshippers who worship in Spirit and Truth.

This was an amazing night where so many people in the room stepped out into passionate, free worship led by the one true worship leader, God!

We hope that this will bless you and challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, in fear and awe of the Lord.

24 hours to go…

We’ve been praying in preparation for this as a team and are so expectant for God to break through and release freedom tomorrow night!

**New Teaching School!**
On Friday 21st April at 7pm the HoP is hosting their first 'Awake! School of Worship and Prayer' meeting!

This teaching school will be on select Friday evenings (further dates to follow soon) to get our teeth into practical, biblical teaching around worship, prayer and living in the power of the Holy Spirit.

On 21st April we will be gathering to learn about 'Freedom in Worship', followed by lots of space (a Tabernacle into the early hours) for worship, prayer, ministry and activation of all we've been learning about. We are so excited and expectant for all the Lord will do among us!

If you are hungry for more of the presence of God, want to be strengthened in your worship and prayer life, are ready to be encouraged and see breakthrough in your walk with the Lord - then this school is for you! We would love to have you with us, keep an eye out on our socials and our website for more details on subsequent teaching events!

We’re so thankful to God for all He’s been doing in the last few months. And it’s been great to have you all come along and worship, pray, intercede and prophesy with us.

The HoP is taking a break for 3 weeks over Easter to rest and celebrate all God is doing.

Regular rhythms will start back in the summer term. The next Tabernacle is on Friday 21st April and we’ll also be starting a new teaching series, so watch this space…

If you’ve never been before, why not pop along. Come for half an hour or the whole thing. Our events are for anyone across all churches in the city.

Join us as we host the presence of God together, pray and worship from 11pm for 11 hours.

Come for half an hour or stay for as long as you like. And if you’ve never been before, why not pop in and see what our incredible God is up to.

Join us anytime from 6pm to 3am, this Friday. We've got lots of worship leaders from around York coming to help facilitate what God is doing.

If you've never been before, now is the time to pop in take part in what God is doing.

Come and pray and worship with us, in creative ways. Be expectant for the Lord, as we dwell in His Tabernacle.

We'll also have a station set up, where you can come and hand-write a few verses of the Gospels. This is part of a city-wide project, to give king Charles a hand-written copy of the Gospels at his Coronation. Why not come along.

All the glory, all the power and all the honour goes to the one true King Jesus.

It’s half term week but we’re not stopping here at the House of Prayer.

There will be no Altar on Monday morning, as the team gather to pray and worship together.

But come and join us for our last Harp and Bowl of the month on Wednesday, 7pm.

We’re so excited for how God is going to move in 2023. Let’s make ourselves available to Him, so that He can use us to carry out His transformational good work.

We start back on January 9th, so see you soon!

One quick thing to note: There will be no Tabernacle this January, but we’ll be back and ready to praise the Lord at the Tabernacle in February.
