Muck leading with the 885.
Calves coming on nicely.
A couple of young bulls growing well, Elvis in the first picture is a Lim x Limx born 14/03/2023 and Elmer in the second picture is a Lim x Blonde born 31/03/2023. Just goes to show what a good bull and some good cows can produce.
Elizabeth and Elmer the two lim x blonde calfs are starting to get some good back ends on them.
Since we had the last calf on thursday evening, I thought I'd to a little report on calving this time round. We had 4 bulls and 5 heifers and only 1 assist. Out of the 5 heifers I'm hoping to keep at least 2 as replacements, I'd like to keep them all but finding land to rent round here has so far proved unsuccessful.
Ebony born on thursday night.
Nice heifer calf born tonight 😍
Mucking out with the 885
Put the herd, on the last of the real long stuff tonight.
Thought I'd let the cattle eat the grass down on the track before moving them on to the next section
Calf update
Pandora trying the new lick out.
Stocksbridge Rhythm with her bull calf born overnight or early hours 😍
No wonder Elmer the lim x blonde bull calf at nearly 2 months old is looking well he gets milk from which ever cow he can! Caught him getting some from Pandora the other blonde cow I have this morning. Her calf is Elizabeth the smaller one at the front.
Fri-yay fresh grass 👍
Hopefully feeling better after last night 🤞
As this is a farming page, I thought I'd share the bad and the good! Saw Lushi wasn't looking his usual self so called the vet out. Just before the vet came he got up and started walking about and eating. The vet gave him a full check over temp, breathing, heartbeat, eyes and nose and several other things and everything was ok. We'll monitor him and see how he gets on.
Gave the herd a bit of fresh green stuff this morning.
Calves so far this year in age order Esme, Eliza, Eddie, Elvis, Elmer, Elizabeth and Evie 😍
Turn out 2023 at last!
Justine and her heifer calf Eliza 😍
