In regions facing hotter and drier climates with elevated temperatures, consider incorporating mulching and planting trees on your farms. Unfortunately, these practices are less common in the high-temperature environments of Northern Ghana 🇬🇭

Farmers complain that trees 🌴 drains a good content of the moist in the soil, but this is because already the moist content isn’t enough.

Mulching involves covering the topsoil with plant materials like leaves, grasses, twigs, crop residues, and straws. Its benefits include conserving soil moisture, enhancing nutrient levels, controlling erosion, suppressing weeds, and mitigating the prolonged effect of fertilizers, and harmful metals.

Young Farmers, let’s explore mulching to efficiently nurture our farmlands for a productive yield.

Representing dagbong beyond data and language!

Come Saturday, I shall be sharing the stage with amazing young people to dialogue about . The venue is Parliament of ghosts at the studio in tamale, Ghana. Theme; Intergenerstional Conversation on the indigenous Food Systems of Dabgong.

Yesterday was a fun session as I engaged the staff and pupils of Jisonaayili MA Junior high school on discussions. I learnt a lot from the students, the theme was THE POWER IN YOU! We all have the power in us individually to take action against climate change, we can become champions or just change our ways, I’m always excited with such engagements. We did some bingo games, TRUE/FALSE questions and WOULD YOU RATHER statement on climate change. The session was interactive and pupils expressed their joy, they promised to invite me back to inspect their school garden as this was one of the ACTION they took. It is possible together !
