Gyimah went to be with the LORD. He was a stunner
Apostle. I miss him so very much.
Two days before the passing of Apostle James Smith Gyimah on April 03, 2023, Apostle Opoku Onyinah (immediate past Chairman of the Church of Pentecost), Apostle Alfred Koduah (former General Secretary of the Church Church of Pentecost) and I were at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) to visit the ailing Apostle J. S. Gymah. To me, this fulfills an earlier word I gave to Apostle Gymah that I shall arrange to visit him at home. We had a chat with him and he communicated satisfactorily. I shall spare you the details of our conversation. Meanwhile, I saw on the bed a man of grace whose body was pulling him. My stylish handshake with him paints a picture of a joyful charismatic figure in a weak body. This has the propensity of helplessly flooding one's mind with the thought of I Corinthians 4:16. "Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day" (NKJV). He was in pain but not like one who is hopeless. During our talk with him, he cut in abruptly like someone who was in a hurry, and turning to Apostle Opoku Onyinah, he said,
"Apostle pray for me." We sang and prayed. One of the lines in Apostle Onvinah's prayer is that "Lord remind him [Apostle J. S. Gymah] some of the things you ministered through him."
Certainly, Apostle Gyimah's voice has gone abroad. His ministry was a revolutionary one accompanied by miracles, signs, and wonders. He exults hope. He preached the coming of God in the most remarkable manner. He excelled in the prophetic. He was not a conservative classical Pentecostal in the strictest sense of the word. but he was a man of the spirit. When it comes to discipleship, he was a connoisseur. He was a transgenerational minister, youthful at heart, and a man of deep love. J. S. Gymah was an Apostle indeed. This able servant of Christ was spent for the Lord! This unfolded at interesting points and turns in his life as a Christian.
If I am asked what the state of Apostle Gymah is now, I shall answer that he is conscious (Luke 16:23-31). He would not go through purgatory but rather his soul or spirit is directly with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). He is in Paradise in Heaven. This is because though paradise was a compartment in Shoel or Hades (where the righteous persons who died before Christ went), it has now been moved to Heaven (2 Corinthians 12:1-4).
These are things I learned from him. Let us also move and shake our generation, and be spent for the Lord.
May the spirit of Apostle J. S. Gymah rest on the next generation.
