Tobaski
Fest in Gambia

Am Vorabend des Opferfestes (in Gambia Tobaski genannt) hat es in der Hauptstadt-Region Gambias geregnet. In langen Fäden tropft der Regen.

Muslimische Familien beginnen den Tag fastend. Um ca 10 Uhr wird in den Moscheen gebetet, danach feierlich ein Schafsbock geschlachtet. Ein Teil wird an Bedürftige Personen verteilt.

Das blue kitchen ist trotz dieses hohen Feiertages geöffnet.

Die Regenzeit kommt. Alle paar Tage schüttet es in Gambia bereits wie aus Eimern und aus Erfahrung wissen wir, dass es noch viel heftiger wird. Vor dem Blue Kitchen haben sich schon einige Pfützen gebildet…

Drinnen ist alles trocken und das Personal freut sich, auch am Feiertagswochenende, auf Gäste!

„Guten Morgen und schöne Grüße aus Gambia,

seit vielen Jahren betreibt die DBO (www.dbo-online.org) in Zusammenarbeit mit Bäcker PETER (www.baecker-peter.de) diese wunderschöne Bäckerei neben unserem Restaurant Blue Kitchen. Jeden Morgen werden hier weit über 1.000 Brote für unsere Kundschaft aus unserem großen Einzugsbereich gebacken. Im Unterschied zur lokalen Produktion zeichnet sich unsere Ware durch gleichbleibend hohe Qualität aus. Für das notwendige Knowhow sorgt Bäcker Peter persönlich. Auch die Maschinen wurden von Bäcker Peter gespendet.

Unser Ofen verbraucht ziemlich viel Strom und ist angesichts der stetig steigenden Strompreise nur noch unwirtschaftlich zu betreiben. Das bereitet uns zunehmend Kopfzerbrechen. Auch liegt uns der Umweltschutz am Herzen und wir spielen mit dem Gedanken, mit euerer Hilfe einen ökonomisch zu betreibenden Ofen zu beschaffen.
