Meet Sadibou KA , a dedicated volunteer all the way from Dakar, Senegal, with a passion for archiving and information management, particularly in managing libraries. 📚
“When my Aunty told me about Fandema, I immediately called Malang to see how I could help,” he shared. Sadibou hopes to create a love for reading among the women, children, and the wider community of Tujereng with a goal to transform the library at Fandema into an even better resource than it is now. 🌱✨
"I chose Fandema for what they’re doing for women—to help them create something better in their lives," he said. The eco-friendly learning environment at Fandema is a source of inspiration for him, making it the perfect space to do impactful work. 🌍💡

Over the past two weeks, our O-Waste field coordinator , Lamin A Sonko , has been actively conducting surveys across agro shops 🚜 in Brikama, Turntable, Traffic Lights Sukuta, and various areas of Greater Banjul 🌍 , conducting the surveys in 6 of them. The initiative aims to gauge the knowledge of agro shop owners about organic fertiliser, as part of our ongoing O-Waste Project, proudly funded by the European Union in The Gambia 🇪🇺 in collaboration with Kanifing Municipal Council , Gambia Women’s Chamber Of Commerce AMB Internacional i Cooperació 🌱.
“This week’s experience was really positive ✨. The shops we visited not only understood the difference between organic and inorganic manure but also actively advocated for composting. Many have substantial stock available from suppliers.
It was clear that nearly every farmer in and around Brikama is aware of the advantages of organic manure over inorganic fertilisers,” Mr. Sonko shared 🤝.
Mori K***a Forest is making strides towards becoming a protected forest that supports sustainable livelihoods. As a community-managed forest, it’s truly inspiring to see the local community rallying behind this initiative. Last week, we were thrilled to welcome the Red Cross Tujereng Branch to join in fencing the forest. Together, we're taking a significant step towards preserving this valuable natural resource.
