How to Check if You’re Doing a Yoga Pose Right?
👉 In 3 Breaths.

Some yoga poses can be tricky to hold, but here’s the trick: hold a pose for 3 breaths.

Let’s take the example of a backbend. As you ease into the pose, you may quickly sense discomfort and an urge to exit the pose. Instead, challenge yourself to re-enter the pose, explore your range of motion, and find the point where you can comfortably stay and breathe for 3 full inhales.

Each inhale is an opportunity to notice yourself within the pose and each inhale is for taking an action: to go deeper, take one step back, or even find easier variations for the pose.

If, at any point, you begin to feel uncomfortable or uneasy, take a step back and breathe deeply. The breath goes over the pose geometry.

This principle applies not only in challenging poses but also in stretching exercises where understanding depth before encountering pain is key.

You progress when you can «breath» the pose.

Keep it simple, listen to your body, and enjoy your yoga!

Online FLEXIBILITY YOGA classes start next week! ❤️

Can yoga train our brain? 🧠

We all know that our brains develop new neural connections when we try something new or challenge ourselves. Can we apply this idea to yoga?

On average, a person can focus on around 3 things at once, while someone with exceptional concentration abilities can manage up to seven. Imagine yourself in a yoga pose, listening to your instructor’s saying: «Allign your hips, twist through the middle ribs, and look at your top hand.»

Each instruction acts as an additional anchor for our attention. The more adjustments we can keep in mind, the more we train our brain, attention, and focus.
Now, think about attempting a new yoga pose you’ve never tried before 🤯

My advice is to explore different yoga classes and styles not only to train your body but also to stimulate your brain 🧠

About scary surfing 🏄‍♀️
I want to share my story because it’s not always how it looks like on Instagram 😁

I tried surfing a couple of years ago and I still consider myself very much a beginner. The moment I catch the wave feels amazing! Pure happiness, clean and focused mind, adrenaline. But the funny thing here is that I’m scared to death of waves 🤷‍♀️

Waves always look smaller until you are in the water, I have a rough time paddling further, simply because I’m very scared of the coming waves.

Whenever I am under water my body panics and I drink it 😁
I can’t even control it.

So why am I still doing it? Because it’s a huge exit from my comfort zone, every time I go, I feel that it helps my personal growth. Every time I catch the wave, I’m the happiest person, but I have to work hard physically and mentally in order to do it. It’s a reflection of life in general, I think.
Perhaps I’ll never be a great surfer, but what I get out of it is much bigger for me personally 🙏

OK, I have to say I liked the fact that many of you have mistaken my age and thought I'm much younger than I actually am 🙏

In my previous post, I shared my thoughts on happiness, and in this one, I'd like to share some of my daily choices.

You are what you are today because of the choices you made in the past. You can call it karma or luck. The point is that something has brought you to where you are today.

I firmly believe that staying active is one of the most vital aspects of maintaining a youthful appearance. I simply don't buy into the notion that working out is dull. My belief is that those who find it boring haven't explored a variety of activities; there's bound to be something enjoyable out there.

As you already know, I incorporate daily yoga into my routine. I never need to motivate myself; it's just a natural part of my day 🧘‍♀️

However, there's something else I make a conscious effort to do – I regularly work on improving my posture. I have scoliosis, and without taking proactive measures, it would add an extra 10 years to my appearance 😅

Bad posture brings a protruding belly, a double chin, not to mention the accompanying back pain, discomfort, and other inconveniences 😐

It is really important to work on a good posture 💚

So, there are no secret tricks here, just everyday choices that we make 🌿

23/09/2023

Wow, 37! OMG! 🙈
Happy Birthday to me! ✨
I must admit, I'm feeling so much happier now than when I was 27 or even 17.

So, what have I learned about happiness along the way?

I believe it boils down to two essential things:

❤️ First, it's about fostering deep social connections with the people you love—your partner, family, and good friends. As humans, we've always thrived in tribes, finding our sense of belonging, safety, and love within these communities. For the longest time, I believed I could be complete on my own, but deep down, I often felt a sense of loneliness even in the most awe-inspiring places on Earth. I'm incredibly grateful that I have wonderful people in my life with whom I can share both the beautiful and not-pretty moments.

❤️ Secondly, there's the aspect of work. I'm a firm believer that we should love what we do and be compensated for it. When you genuinely enjoy your job, time seems to fly by, you have the opportunity to develop your talents and skills, and you're willing to put in the hard work. I've experimented with quite a few different jobs (and I'm still exploring), but one thing I've come to understand is that if you spend eight hours a day doing something you despise, burnout becomes an inevitability. Loving what you do is an absolute blessing.

And what else? Staying active, of course!

What is happiness for you in the big picture?

Is balance our ultimate goal? 🤔
I used to associate balance in life with perfect work-life harmony, emotions under control, stable and good routine.

But thinking about that recently I got an idea: what if balance thrives on contrasts?

Sometimes, those crazy working days where I push my limits beyond the norm lead to growth and being really proud of results of my hard work.

Yet, after these intense moments, another kind of contrast is needed. I am disconnecting from social media, spending time outdoors connecting with nature, and enjoying quiet moments. Maybe you have seen my "here&now" stories, they come from this idea ☺️

So maybe true balance is the synergy of these two opposite experiences?

Like dancing between contrasts, experiencing highs and lows.
Striving, achieving, and then resting deeply in the stillness 🦓

But the most important here is to listen to yourself and know when to shift and recharge the batteries. Slowly I am getting better with that 🙏

Time for some recommended books 🤓

During summer, I usually shift from business/self-development books to fiction and enjoy stories, especially love stories!

Here are 3 books I recently enjoyed a lot (pics in the carousel for your convenience):

1. Martin Eden by Jack London.
It is a story of a very poor guy from the working class who falls in love with a girl from a higher social class and has to get smarter and maybe even a best-seller author. And surprisingly he does it overpassing the education level of his sweetheart. One more prove that all limitations are in our heads.

2. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
I always loved Japanese culture and this book shows the story of a geisha with a deep understanding of the female soul. It's surprising to me that a man wrote it because it feels so feminine.

3. The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough.
A classic and dramatic love story novel. I was deeply touched by this book and needed a few days to process it. Definitely, an amazing book if you are looking for a good and deep love storybook.

Have you read any of these? 📚

Not gonna lie, this isn't a typical Instagram pic, but it's so ME! 😄

Ever noticed that yogis seem to look younger? 🧘‍♀️

That's why I'm here to motivate you to lift those legs higher than your head sometimes!

Google can give you all the benefits (trust me, there are plenty), but let me just say, there are tons of variations to try that don't involve full-on inversions like headstands or handstands.

That's good energy and a beauty boost 💁‍♀️

So do you ever lift your legs up?

Photos from who_is_yulia's post 25/06/2023

Elbows in or out in down dog? What are bandhas and why would we engage them? Do we really need to stretch our hamstrings?

I've just completed an incredible anatomy course with , and I can't wait to share many answers I got on these and other questions. My results before and after the course you can see in the carousel. Not bad, right? 😎

In the course, I delved deep into posture alignments and explored the intricate details of our body's anatomy. Some may argue, "Who cares? I practice as I can." But let me tell you,
from head to toe, every part is interconnected. Paying attention to proper alignments, balancing our muscles, and moving in a healthy way facilitates the flow of energy, cleansing both our body and mind.

The more I immerse myself in my yoga practice, the more I appreciate the complexity of the human body. It truly is an amazing ecosystem. By understanding how to use it correctly, we can forge a profound connection between our body and mind, and ultimately, improve the quality of our lives.

Yoga has been my guiding light, helping me develop intuition, live in the present moment, and believe in myself.

Imagine a world where more people embraced this body-mind connection — where fewer people would experience depression.

Practice yoga my friends and be happy! 🌿

When you find yourself in a state of flow, something magical happens 💫

We may debate the existence of energy, but there are undeniable moments when everything aligns effortlessly—when the right people and possibilities find their way to us. Don't you agree?

Be the radiant light you want to attract 🌟

What does being balanced mean? And how to get there? 🤔
Being balanced, in a flow, staying positive is quite a fluffy thing and everyone sees a different meaning in it.

So let’s get some things clear here.
Being balanced means being in a green zone where we have flowing energy to create, we feel power and productivity. We see things as they are or even better. This is the state where we are creative and ideas come without effort. People around us characterize us as positive and good to be around.

If you imagine your mental health as a structure (see in carousel), a green healthy zone 😇 would be in the middle between
- apathy, a state where we have low energy, no motivation, our vision is very limited, and we are very likely close to depression, the blue zone 😞
- and hyperactivity, where we are doing many things but mainly motivated by panic, anxiety and restlessness; it is kind of fake productivity, and this state leads to apathy in the long run, the red zone 🤯

It is normal to shift to apathy and hyper activity from time to time. The important thing is to come back to a green zone and stay there most of the time.

So, the first steps towards being in a green zone would be:
1. noticing your condition and where you are
2. knowing what personally works for you to either boost your energy from a passive state or calming down when it is necessary.

My typical scenario for many years was working hard as hell and to be in a red zone which always soon or later lead me to a low energy condition and long recoveries.
I started noticing my states and practicing different ways (I call them rituals) in order to get back to a green balance zone

Photos from who_is_yulia's post 17/02/2023

Not so many of you know that my passion for yoga and beautiful body shapes started a few years ago after trying pole dance. I was obsessed with the idea of getting split with no gymnastic background, being stronger and more flexible.

And there is one lady who’s blaming it was! 😃

I am so happy I met you on my way, I am so grateful that I discovered much more than I could even imagine. I am so happy that I was your student and became your friend. Maybe we do not meet often but when we do, it is always a happy moment ❤️

Olga is an amazing choreographer and owner of a dance studio in Zurich. One day I will come and visit you there 💃

When a monkey mind drives you crazy 😵‍💫

Recently I’ve had a little more time for myself and have started to work on my awareness and the focus of my thoughts.

By being aware of my thoughts, I was terrified by how much time and energy my mind spent on possible things that could happen in the future or alternative ways that past events could have turned out.

And it would be great if I were Steven Spielberg creating movie scenarios, but I’m not, and most of these thoughts are useless garbage.

Noticing the focus of the mind is already a big step because we can have a full control of only one thing in life – our thoughts 🤔

Just imagine some people using their minds to create patterns and innovations to improve other people’s lives, and others just for dealing with a personal dramaю An interesting subject to think about, right? 🤓

Would you like me to share more of my experiences in my self-awareness search? 😉
