Our Certification program from IACS members for our students continues. This time Lloyd’s Register trains our students in Practical Approach to STCW and Crewing & Risk Management Incident Investigation issues. Mr. Georgios Niotis and Mr. Kirikos Faraklas from Lloyd’s Register lead this training process and provided our students with a clear understanding and a solid foundation for managing risk in shipboard operations.
Using case studies and team discussions, the course was completed effectively, with the successful certification of all our students from LR on the above issues.

Within the educational framework of the MSc in Shipping Management for the academic year 2024-2025, we were privileged to attend Mr. Paraskevopoulos of the American Bureau of Shipping, ABS Piraeus – Academy who lectures on ISM/ISPS/MLC and DPA issues.

The 5-day specialisation course is exclusively designed for our M.Sc in Shipping Management Program and includes both theoretical training and practical approach. It meticulously covers the content of the ISM Code and its interpretation, the risk management principles and management systems that underpin the ISM Code, and the principles and current practices that are used in internal auditing as well major issues of Risk taking and the role of th DPA. Case studies and team discussions were employed to clearly present the meaning of those issues to participating attendees, all students or graduates from M.Sc. in Shipping Management Program.

We happily announce that our MSc in Shipping Management’ educational program continues with a visit to Almi Tankers S.A. of Fostiropoulos’ family.
There we have had the pleasure and the honor of attending an excellent and in-depth presentation from the owner Mr. Michalis Fostiropoulos on how his family, his team and himself have analyzed the market, have decided on the investment, have financed an almost 1 bn project and have put a fleet of state-of-the-art tankers to sea.
We were impressed by the owner’s hospitality and great care to our team as well as for he has spent 4 hours almost without break and without resting or sitting for all that time explaining theories of excellence and applications of his company success.
