This popular blend has provided relief to many people and sharing it today with someone made me think it's time to repost it.

Approximately 12% of the population (children and adults) experience painful and debilitating migraines. Migraines are complex and their exact cause and trigger are not known. Inflammation in the nervous system (neurogenic inflammation), dilation of blood vessels on the surface of the brain, and alterations in neurochemicals and neuropeptides (serotonin, nitric oxide, endothelin, CGRP) are some of the abnormal brain activities associated with migraines.

A recent review article concluded that lavender, peppermint, German chamomile, anise, basil CT estragole, rose, and garlic essential oils were useful for migraines. They further identified constituents in these oils that contribute to relief of factors that contribute to migraines: menthol (pain relief, reduces neurogenic inflammation); borneol (relaxes blood vessels, reduces neurogenic inflammation); 1,8-cineole (dilates blood vessels, reduces neurogenic inflammation, inhibits CNS pain); linalool/linalyl acetate (reduces neurogenic inflammation, inhibits CNS pain); menthone (reduces neurogenic inflammation); limonene (pain relief, reduces neurogenic inflammation, balances vasomotor abnormalities); alpha-pinene (reduces neurogenic inflammation); beta-elemene (reduces neurogenic inflammation); beta-caryophyllene (reduces neurogenic inflammation, balances vasomotor abnormalities); trans-anethole (reduces neurogenic inflammation, balances vasomotor abnormalities); diallyl trisulfide (reduces neurogenic inflammation); estragole (reduces neurogenic inflammation, balances vasomotor abnormalities); and citronellol (relaxes blood vessels, reduces neurogenic inflammation, reduces excess pain response).

A tiny bottle but definitely a skin powerhouse.

I have personally blended this because I had a big pimple on my forehead. I applied this blend several times a day and the pimple dried.

I am still using this blend to lighten the pimple spot.

The oils I have used in this blend are anti-inflammatory, skin regenerative and skin soothing.

I highly recommend this blend :)

As a certified aromatherapist, I make blends specifically addressing your concern. I conduct initial interview, then suggest a small batch of blend to see which one works.

Did you know that clary sage essential oil contains very small amounts of a constituent similar in structure to estradiol? This labdane diterpene called sclareol is important for clary sage's effectiveness for irregular menstruation, menstrual pain, and cramps.

Clary sage is frequently used in clinical research, typically in combination with other oils like lavender, geranium, rose, marjoram, and fennel, to reduce menstrual pain. A randomized, double-blind clinical trial found that massaging the lower abdomen with lavender, clary sage, and marjoram (2:1:1 ratio) significantly decreased menstrual pain.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22435409/

For a soothing blend during menstruation, combine 5 drops of lavender, 5 drops of clary sage, and 2 drops each of geranium, marjoram, fennel, peppermint, and rosemary in a 10 mL bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with carrier oil--borage or evening primrose oils are good options to include. Apply to the lower abdomen as needed.

α-Pinene, linalool, and 1-octanol contribute to the topical anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of frankincense by inhibiting COX-2 24/10/2022

Frankincense is a great essential oil topically and orally for pain and inflammation. A preclinical study found that the topical application of frankincense essential oil relieves pain and reduces inflammation. The researchers noted that the oil interrupts pain signals in the nervous system, reduces the production of pro-inflammatory molecules, and inhibits COX-2 overexpression. The researchers further found that alpha-pinene, linalool, and 1-octanol contribute to these activities of frankincense oil.

α-Pinene, linalool, and 1-octanol contribute to the topical anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of frankincense by inhibiting COX-2 Frankincense oil and water extracts (FOE, FWE) have long been used for external treatment of inflammation and pain. The present study was conducted to…

Formulation and Evaluation of Helichrysum italicum Essential Oil-Based Topical Formulations for Wound Healing in Diabetic Rats - PubMed 28/09/2022

Wound healing can be much slower in people with diabetes due to several factors: elevated blood sugar narrows blood vessels limiting blood supply and cell migration to the wound area, neuropathy that reduces the ability to detect wounds, immune system deficiency, and infection.

In my experience helichrysum is fantastic for wound healing and you don't need to use very much of it to be effective, particularly when combined with other wound healing oils like copaiba, chamomile, frankincense, myrrh, and lavender. A preclinical study found that an ointment or gel containing 0.5% helichrysum significantly improved wound healing in diabetic subjects.

Formulation and Evaluation of Helichrysum italicum Essential Oil-Based Topical Formulations for Wound Healing in Diabetic Rats - PubMed As proper wound management is crucial to reducing morbidity and improving quality of life, this study evaluated for the first time the wound healing potential of H. italicum essential oil (HIEO) prepared in the form of ointment and gel in streptozotocin-induced diabetic wound models in rats.....

Good morning, Oillovers! I would like to share this podcast session of Ms.Jirbie Go, founder of Alliance of the Philippine Aromatherapist and Couchwasabi with Gabriel Mojay as they talk about AROMATHERAPY and PHARMACOKINETICS.

They had a very interesting conversation about essential oils being capable of preventing mutagenesis. We talked a little bit about aromatherapy and cancer care. Most importantly, we talked about all the things that's keeping Gabriel busy this October. 🤓

The episode will go live tomorrow Sept 25, 10am Philippine time. Streaming is FREE via Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, and Amazon Music or anywhere you get your podcast fix. 🎧🎙️

It is estimated that nearly 1.3 billion adults aged 30 to 79 years old have high blood pressure (hypertension). Almost half of these individuals are unaware that they do, which is why hypertension is often called "the silent killer." Hypertension, damages your arteries and heart, increasing the risk of coronary artery disease, aneurysm, heart failure, stroke, dementia, and more.

A clinical study evaluated the effects of inhaling a blend of essential oils (three separate formulas with different percentages of the oils) containing citronella (12.5%-37.5%), nutmeg (12.5%-37.5%), and benzoin (25%) in a carrier oil base (25%) in people with hypertension aged 40 to 60 years old. Inhaling the blends resulted in significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure and participants reported feeling more calm and refreshed.

To mimic one of the blends, add 30 drops of citronella, 20 drops of benzoin, 10 drops of nutmeg, and 15 drops of carrier oil to a 5 mL bottle. Shake well. Apply a few drops of the blend to a tissue or cotton pad and inhale for 15 to 20 minutes, twice daily.

Antimicrobial Activity of Essential Oils Evaluated In Vitro against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus - PubMed 08/08/2022

Researchers evaluated the benefits of using a throat spray with essential oils on respiratory and lung health. Thirty-five women aged 18 to 60 years old and currently experiencing respiratory symptoms sprayed the essential oil based throat spray (pine, eucalyptus, lemon eucalyptus, ravensara, cypress, hyssop, thyme, sage, dill, rosemary, and bay laurel essential oils in a blend of apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, olive oil, and almond extract) or a placebo spray into their throats 4 to 6 times daily for 3 days. At the end of the third day, the essential oil spray group experienced resolution of all chest-related symptoms and better overall bronchial health.

Copaiba oil enhances in vitro/in vivo cutaneous permeability and in vivo anti-inflammatory effect of celecoxib - PubMed 05/07/2022

Copaiba is one of my very favorite essential oils with a plethora of benefits. One of things I love about copaiba is its ability to improve the absorption of other lipophilic (fat loving, like essential oils) substances through the skin. Two studies showed that copaiba enhances the pe*******on, retention, and activity of anti-inflammatory drugs. My experience is that using copaiba topically with other oils improves the pe*******on of the oils through the skin and therefore their efficacy. In this way, copaiba acts as a "synergizing" essential oil.

Activities involving standing or walking for extended periods of time can cause swelling, pain, and fatigue in the feet and legs. A clinical study investigated the benefits of an aromatic foot bath or aromatic spray on lower extremity swelling and pain in nurses. For the foot bath, 0.5 mL of a blend of peppermint and grapefruit were added to 9 L of water heated to 40◦ C (104◦ F) and the participants soaked their feet for 30 minutes. The spray was created by combining 6 mL of grapefruit and peppermint oils (1:1 ratio) in 94 mL of distilled water. About 4 mL of the spray was sprayed to participant’s lower limbs three separate times at 10-minute intervals while sitting in chairs, shaking the bottle before each use. A control group sat in a chair for 30 minutes without any intervention. Swelling significantly reduced in the foot bath and spray groups (as measured by calf circumference) and reported lower extremity pain and fatigue was remarkably reduced when compared to control group.

Immortelle essential oil-based ointment improves wound healing in a diabetic rat model - PubMed 17/05/2022

Helichrysum essential oil is a powerful oil, and in my experience even very small amounts can produce remarkable results. This held true in a recent preclinical model that evaluated the benefits of an ointment containing 0.5% helichrysum essential oil for diabetic wounds. The ointment was applied once daily for 21 days and compared against no treatment and silver sulfadiazine (standard wound treatment). After 21 days, the helichrysum ointment promoted the greatest wound healing, reduced scarring, and increased skin texture. This suggests that helichrysum may be a promising solution to help wounds healing in people with diabetes.

We are exposed to many chemicals on a daily basis. Because of this it is prudent to limit exposure whenever possible. One way we can do this is by using natural cleaning products that contain essential oils. A recent study found that essential oils can be useful to for the disinfection of surfaces and local environments. A combination of oregano, cinnamon, and clove oils (equal portions and 10% concentration in the final product) disinfected multiple surfaces of bacteria. The combination also reduced mold-yeast counts in the air at lower concentrations.

A great support managing HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE:

Add 10 drops of lavender, 5 drops of orange, 3 drops of ylang ylang, and 2 drops of vetiver to a 10 mL roller bottle and fill the rest with carrier oil. Apply this to the bottoms of the feet and massage into the area for 15 minutes for a happy blood pressure foot massage. Great before sleep too!

A foot massage with lavender essential oil decreased blood pressure in people with hypertension. Whether you are living in a tropical country or not, never skip applying sunscreen especially if you are going out and be exposed to the sun.

Sunscreens protects our skin from the harmful rays of the sun, reduces the risk for skin cancer, protects our skin from sunburn, prevents hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

But the usual sunscreen contains:

Oxybenzone which can increase the risk of disrupting our endocrine system and may increase risk of breast cancer and endometriosis.

Avobenzone: disrupts the endocrine system and has been shown to block the effects of testosterone in cellular studies.

Octocrylene: can cause skin allergies and harmful to corals.

Octosalate: this chemical has been linked to allergic contact dermatitis and may have endocrine effects weakly binding to the estrogen receptor.

Homosalate: potential endocrine disruptor at high concentrations.

I love my Young Living Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 because the chemicals mentioned above are not the ingredients of this.

I am confident that it is safe for all ages 😍

Also, that is my daughter at the background, enjoying the sun with this sunscreen on her skin ❤️

The influence of ambient aroma on the middle school students' academic emotions 15/02/2022

A clinical study investigated the inhalation of Rosemary, Lavender, Mint, Lemon and Sweet Orange among middle school students in a classroom setting.

Classes were randomly assigned to one of three groups:
1. NO aromatherapy
2. Daily aromatherapy
3. Aromatherapy every other day

Students randomly smelled the five different oils directly from the bottle, smelling their own skin to neutralize the previous smell between each oil, and rated their pleasantness and relaxation ability.

The results showed that sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) was superior to the other oils in promoting positive emotions.

Emotional questionnaires before intervention and eight weeks later showed that sweet orange essential oil significantly promoted greater feelings of joy, hope, positive academic emotion, and relaxation and reduced anger and negative academic emotions.

The results suggest that inhaling sweet orange essential oil may improve emotional states among middle school students in an academic setting.
