Monix Hetemeyer is a Guyanese singer, musician and educator. She is a wife and mother to two wonderful children. Monix has dedicated her life to serving her family and her community. On February 20th, 2022, her life changed drastically as a result of a freak accident. Monix was out with a friend and a car was unexpectedly driven right into the venue where they were sitting. The car hit Monix directly and she suffered significant injuries to her legs. Her friend's injuries were less severe. Doctors did everything they could to provide Monix with the best care but her left leg was significantly injured and ultimately had to be amputated below the knee.

This experience has been shocking and traumatic for Monix and her family, considering she was perfectly healthy before the bizarre accident. In the midst of this trial, Monix's optimistic spirit, strength and trust in God has proven to be unshakable. She remains positive and has even encouraged her loved ones not to worry. She stated that even without her leg she will still accomplish her goals.

Her strength and optimism is inspiring but the stark reality is she must now adjust to her new normal and face challenges that she's never had before. She will be affected socially, mentally, emotionally and financially.

Monix is a giver and has always been a great friend. Thus, her friends have organised this GoFundMe project to provide some amount of financial support to Monix and her family during this time. Given the long-term challenges that are ahead, having a bit of financial support will be extremely helpful. This support will cover: daily expenses, transportation, the cost of getting prosthetics, home care and additional costs that will be incurred.

This accident has provided Monix' friends and community with an opportunity to actively express love and support to her through giving. The aim of this GoFundMe initiative is to ensure that Monix and her family has greater financial security to reduce pressure and stress as they tackle other challenges.
