What makes Müller-Schubert's "Winterreise" one of the most demanding repertoires for both the vocalist and the pianist is almost indescribable. How REAL can music get? Can poetic words and the musical tones lead us back to the origins of feelings and thoughts? The simpler the musical layout, the more difficult for one to contain or to react to what it demands - because all feelings, along with technique, are dissolved and assimilated to form an organic unity. 香港大歌劇院首齣歌劇演出　占馬勞沙喜鬧歌劇《芝麻經理人》

大型歌劇首演在即，三名演員爭上位，劇本爛到冇眼睇，音樂更不知所謂！面對重重障礙，經理人有冇計，重振百年歌劇院聲威？

與莫扎特《費加羅的婚禮》同年首演的占馬勞沙歌劇《芝麻經理人》，自1786年起的數年間大受歡迎，被改編成眾多版本並於歐洲各地以不同語言演出。此劇的香港首演將《芝麻經理人》1793年維也納版本的意大利語唱段與編劇阮韻珊改編的粵語對白完美結合，並由香港舞台劇獎最佳導演王俊豪執導，為這齣嬉笑鬧劇帶來獨特的本土風味，令人爆笑全場！

🙉⛔️🆘 Epic backstage backstabbing and catfighting – a turmoil not to be missed! 🪓🧯🙈
Having inherited an old theatre, Cris is launching a new opera in a few weeks. But what does he have? Three narcissistic divas vying for the leading role, a banal libretto that’s more potent than a sleeping pill, and a second-rate composer who’s habitually infringing other composers’ copyright. And the problems keep coming! So will this self-proclaimed impresario make everything work and put up a good show?

In 1786, Domenico Cimarosa composed the opera L’impresario in angustie (The Impresario in Distress) while Mozart created The Marriage of Figaro in the same year. Since then, Cimarosa’s opera has been adapted frequently and performed in different languages. Staged by the award-winning young director Calvin Wong, the Hong Kong premiere of this comedic opera uses its 1793 Viennese version as the basis, with specially adapted Cantonese dialogue by playwright Melody Yuen for a unique local twist!

《14 November 2022 - 好友音樂會 - Good Fellows in a Concert》

Joy and delight are the tenents of all art but I can categorically say that I found them again in this concert.

Thank you Kwok Kar Kit, Desmond Chung, Walter Wong, Albert Fung for your generosity of spirit and for welcoming me and Gloria into your midst, in both hearth and heart. For Gloria YinYee Chan, it’s a most heartening moment when one realises one’s colleagues can also be one’s friends. Thank you for your candour and trust.

Thank you Laoshi Dongjian Gong for this wonderful opportunity - not only to sample Walter’s many delicious desserts but a chance for further the discovery in my vocal ability. Thank you also to Mme. Catherine Zhang’s (張老師) support and encouragement.

I also wish to pay tribute to my pianist, Jamie Shum, for first and foremost, her friendship, and second, being the brilliant accompanist she is - both excelling in playing my solo pieces, stepping in for the chorus numbers, and have saved the day.

Lastly, thank you to Yvonne Yip, Athena Chung, Alfred Sze, and Lo Tat-Chi Arthur for all the administrative, design, and backstage work. You are the unsung heroes and have truly made this concert a memorable occasion.

For all my friends, and family - your unfailing support for me, us musicians, and this concert at large is the greatest compliment and gift one can receive. I couldn’t have asked for a better crowd.

I am humbled by the love that surrounds me as we all journey ahead. To many happy years ahead!

Now a professional singer, Gabriel Ma was the very first boy in Hong Kong to sing The Snowman in 2003!
