[Work Together]
A special meeting was held between CITB’s Sub-committee on Ethnic Minorities in Construction (https://www.cic.hk/eng/main/aboutcic/leadership/level0/) and EM Workers Union at HKIC’s KLB Campus this morning.
“We have collected very good information from over 20 representatives of EM Workers Union. In view of the positive feedbacks from both EM Workers Union and HKIC team, it was agreed that follow up meeting will be held 4 weeks later” said Peter Lam, chairman of the Sub-committee, also chairman of The Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors.

[Radical Equality]
CIC offers a set of framework to provide opportunities to attract Ethnic Minority to join the construction industry, under the existing framework, there are full-time courses in English for new comers, and three part-time to train registered general workers to become registered semi-skilled workers.
The training for Plumbing Worker is currently under the above framework.
“We see a lot more opportunities in E&M Engineering for Ethnic Minority, as all E&M installation manuals, drawings and method statements are in English.” said Peter Lam, chairman of The Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors and also chairman of CITB’s Subcommittee on Ethnic Minorities in Construction Industry.

[Diversity & Inclusive culture]
On 30 July CIC held a session for employers to share their experience in multicultural working environment.
Peter Lam, chairman of FEMC, and chairperson of the Sub-committee on Ethnic Minorities in Construction together with his team presented the challenges, opportunities and achievements in diversity and inclusive culture to over 90 executives from over 40 companies.
