好久沒有動過這個page, 明白我的朋友都知道，除了本身的工作，剩餘的時間都在忙羊毛創作，實在沒有很多時間再去兼顧Aromatherapy產品這一部分，而我目前仍然是專業治療師課程的導師。最近見得太多太多亂用essential oil的例子，而絕大多數都是來自某些MLM的各種正式非正式的推銷方法，非常的目不暇給……..然而各種不用稀釋可以直接用，甚至建議可以內用，非常非常的危險，以下Robert Tisserand 的post是一個例子， 請大家細讀，用最濃縮的版本是- Annalise用了某某牌子的配方，已經有稀釋，然而導致非常嚴重的全身敏感反應， Robert Tisserand 認為雖然可能有某些成分可能會導致敏感反應，那配方不算特別的危險。 最重要是，他指出-（而Annalise自己也承認）這很可能是長期大量使用essential oils 的結果（包括不稀釋塗搽/ 內服）…….

想指出的是，Essential oils 非常濃縮，所需要的用量非常少，往往less is more, 用得少並不是保守，而是根本沒有需要。也許有人會跟你說，法國也會內用essential oil, 那我先告訴你，他們是經醫生處方服用，不是看到網上流傳就隨便去食，這個例子告訴我們，大量使用也許短期內看不到什麼反效果，但是，在少數人，隔了一段時候，有可能出現致命的後果……

A one-in-a-million reaction, or a disaster waiting to happen? Perhaps both. This shows Annelise Fratella-Lentz both before and 2-3 days after applying a single drop of a Young Living product to her abdomen. The blend is for kids, and is diluted in fractionated coconut oil. Annelise diluted the blend further when she applied it, and it does not contain any oils that would be considered high-risk for adverse skin reactions. The most likely suspect is perhaps the carvone in spearmint, but be assured that reactions to this are extremely rare. In case I'm not being clear, I do not consider this product to be hazardous.

Chances are that at this point in time, almost any essential oil or blend might have triggered her reaction. It is the most severe type of reaction possible to an essential oil, and has never been previously recorded – a systemic allergic reaction with anaphylaxis. The skin over her whole body is affected. If she had not admitted herself to hospital, she could have died. In addition to the skin reaction, her symptoms of rapid but weak pulse, extremely low blood pressure, dizziness, constricted airways and swollen lips, tongue and throat all point to anaphylactic shock. The essential oil blend is the only likely suspect, but allergy testing (which will be done later) will clarify this issue.

Normally, skin contact allergic reactions only manifest at the application site. But, as Annelise herself suggests, this was probably a culmination of years of over-use of essential oils, both topically undiluted, and orally. In the many, perhaps most people, this will not cause significant obvious problems, but in a substantial minority it will, eventually, though not to this degree. One question is – how big is that minority?

Annelise will likely be in hospital for a few more days while her doctors work to control her skin reaction. Later, she will see an allergist and a dermatologist, and we will learn more about what triggered her reaction. She is determined to find out as much as possible, and I admire her courage in exposing her suffering. In the meantime, she will need to completely avoid contact with essential oils.
