【喜迎新血】香港科大一向鼓勵全人發展，同時重視校園多元包容。科大於6月27日舉行嘉許禮，歡迎數十名透過直接錄取計劃入學的新生。帆船精英運動員易希澧經「學生運動員學習支援及入學計劃」（SALSA）獲科大工學院取錄; 另外，15位在非傳統術科有出色表現的新生則透過「學校推薦直接錄取計劃」（SNDAS）入讀工學院。他們即將於9月展開大學生涯。

HKUST has always emphasized on holistic development and values diversity and inclusivity in our campus community. A ceremony was held on June 27 to welcome dozens of freshmen admitted through direct admissions schemes. Elite sailing athlete Maddalena DI SALVO has been admitted to HKUST School of Engineering via the Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission (SALSA) Scheme. 15 talented students with potential in unconventional academic fields joined HKUST Engineering through the School Nomination Direct Admission Scheme (SNDAS). They will soon kickstart university life in September.

Newton 是香港科大工學院三年級學生，他主修工業工程及決策分析學系，並修讀延伸主修人工智能。他深明 AI 對於工程學的重要性，並藉著校園提供的實習機會，及各類型的會議和比賽去擴闊眼界。約定你，下學年科大校園見！

Newton is a Year 3 student in the HKUST Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics, who is also taking an Extended Major in Artificial Intelligence. He recognizes the significance of AI in engineering and expands his horizons through internships, conferences, and competitions available through the University. Congratulations to HKUST Robotics Team and the HKUST STEAM Tutor Team for achieving an impressive victory in RoboGames 2024 held in the US, bringing home 15 medals – 9 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze – in various events. 【好消息！】香港科大在泰晤士高等教育的《大學影響力排名2024》中，勇奪全球2,100間學府的第36名，充分彰顯科大在建設穩健的基建、推進工業發展及促進可持續城市發展方面的卓越貢獻。

在曼谷舉辦的全球可持續發展大會（GSDC）上，科大副校長（大學拓展）汪揚教授牽頭與15所大學聯署碳中和宣言。科大工學院院長羅康錦教授則在研討環節上闡述了如何在可持續城市及社區裡推動智慧創新。

Incredible News! HKUST debuted at No.36 out of over 2,100 institutes in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings. It is a solid proof for HKUST’s notable contributions to building resilient infrastructure, advancing industrial development, and promoting sustainable urban development.

In the annual Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) held in Bangkok, Prof. WANG Yang, HKUST Vice-President for Institutional Advancement, led a joint declaration signed by 15 universities to promote carbon neutrality. Dean of Engineering Prof. Hong LO delivered a masterclass session on smart innovations in sustainable cities and communities.

Congratulations to the HKUST Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team for winning the championship in the Hong Kong Regional Contest of the MATE International ROV Competition 2024, marking its 12th winning streak in the Explorer Class.
