在香港, 以純英文為母語的小朋友一般也是外派人員的兒女. 也有小部份家庭以全英文溝通. 但是始終人數不多. 所以最近我們也直接聯絡在外國的家長參與我們活動. 我們會利用 一些有即時對話和面對面功能的online game 來促進兩位小朋友用英文溝通. (大家可以參照下一個名為Bunch的遊戲App)入面有簡單而非暴力適合小童玩的遊戲.

Hi parents in the UK!

Is your children between the age of 5- 12? If so, would you be up for playing some online games with kids in Hong Kong at the same age?

Our purpose is to give the kids in Hong Kong the opportunity to practice their English with the native English speakers. We would make use of online gaming apps such as “House Party” and “Wave” where the players could engage in real time conversations during the game play.

This is a good opportunity for your kids to meet someone from a different culture and it would make a huge difference in the lives of the children in Hong Kong.

Please note, all sessions have to be accompanied by at least a parent or a legal guardian.

2 months ago, 6 years old Susie (a local Hong Kong girl) and her parents went on a playdate with 7 years old Sally-Ann (an Ex-pat family from the UK) to a beach in Hong Kong. That was the first time Susie met and played with a native English speaking kid at her own age! The 2 families have since met in a regular basis. Susie’s confidence in conversational English has since grown and is now able to hold a full conversation in English with Sally-Ann.

At Le Play Dates, we organize play dates for parents of 3 - 8 years old kids. We pair native English speaking kids with local Hong Kong kids for play dates. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for the local kids to practice their English with native English speakers in their age range. At the same time, we hope this could also serve as an opportunity for the Ex-Pat’s kids to mingle with the locals.

We would now like to take these play dates online by making use of smartphone apps such as “House Party” and “Wave” where kids can interact with each other face to face during the game play.

This would be a unique experience for kids from different cultures to interact with each other. Join us to make a difference!

Dear mama and papas !

I am planning to organise some kids language exchange play dates sessions.

I find a lot of local parents are spending thousands if not 10s of thousands on English tutoring. It shouldn’t cost that much, I believe the best way for local kids to learn English is by playing with kids whose first language are English. So I am hoping to organise a play date language exchange, so the local kids can have the opportunity to learn some conversational English and the expat kids could make some local friends, hope it can be developed into a life long friendship.

So if you are the parents of kids who are native English speakers, do get in touch by PM. Native HK parents are of course welcomed to get in touch as well! I will organise some play dates.
