Talk: Recent Advances and Applications in Big Graph Data

Prof. Reynold Cheng was invited by WangXuan Institute of Computer Technology at Peking University to give a talk entitled "Recent Advances and Applications in Big Graph Data" on May 17,2022.

In this talk, He talked about the recent results done by the HKU STAR Lab (Social Technology and Research Laboratory) established in 2021. The lab has been working on fundamental data science research, as well as novel data-driven technologies for serving the society. He described how we tackle the challenge of the huge volume and complexity of graph data, based on developing novel graph algorithms (e.g., densest subgraph discovery and higher-order graph analysis). He also discussed how heterogeneous information networks can be used to support the matching of elders' needs and helpers' expertise in HINCare - our multiple-NGO volunteering support platform.

HINCare Welcomes CFSC as the 7th Partner for the Generic Time Banking Platform

HINCare today announced an extended collaboration with Christian Family Service Centre (CFSC). Through this collaboration, CFSC becomes the 7th Partner with HINCare and now can benefit from the new generic version of Time Banking System developed by HINCare.

The collaboration between HINCare and CFSC is one of many examples of the long-standing relationship with NGOs. In the past 6 months, HINCare has expanded its base of collection of Time Banking data with 6 NGOs :

the 1st :Hans Andersen Club Limited (Hans)
the 2nd :Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service ("Yang")
the 3rd : Conservative Baptist Jubilee Centre Limited (“Jubilee”)
the 4th : Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (“YMCA”)
the 5th : Hong Kong PHAB Association (“PHAB”)
the 6th : People Service Centre Limited ("PSC")

With this latest collaboration, HINCare believes its Time Banking System can make a greater contribution to the community and help more NGOs in their social welfare endeavours.
