The Chinese Music Department of Academy will be hosting a conducting masterclass on 4 March at 6:00 PM in the Academy Concert Hall. Professor Sun Peng, the guest resident conductor of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, will personally conduct ‘Suite Folclórica’ (composed by Bai Haoyu) in the class, mark your calendar!

🐲龍年第一場音樂會——二月二十八日晚上七時正將於演藝學院音樂廳舉行本學年室內樂專場音樂會。屆時將會帶來《5.12祭》（顧冠仁曲）、弦樂合奏《二泉映月》（華彥鈞曲 李煥之編）、 《江南岸》（陳永華曲）、《動感彈撥》（王丹紅）等精彩樂曲。

【Academy Chinese Chamber Music Concert Teaser】
The first concert of the Dragon Year —— “Academy Chinese Chamber Music Concert” will be held on 28 February, 7PM at Academy Concert Hall. The ensemble will be performing “Remembrance of Wenchuan Earthquake” (Gu Guanren), “Reflection of the Moon on the Water” (Composed by Hua Yan Jun, Arranged by Lee Huan Zhi), “The Ancient Tea-Horse Road” (Li Bochan), to name yet a few. Mark your calendar!

【Performing Arts Carnival 2023@KTT】
The Performing Arts Carnival 2023 was successfully held at Kwai Tsing Theatre on 10 December. Other than the performances from the Department of Chinese Music, there were also a series of performances by emerging talents from the Schools of Dance, Drama and Chinese Opera of HKAPA. Congratulations to the success of the concert!

【演藝嘉年華 2023@葵青劇院】

演藝嘉年華2023匯聚香港演藝學院舞蹈、音樂、戲劇及戲曲學院一眾新秀，連同場地伙伴，呈獻多元化及高質素的表演藝術節目。演藝嘉年華已遊走四個新界表演場地，最後一站將於十二月十日（星期日）下午二時在葵青劇院舉行。

而中樂系將為大家帶來山東民間吹打《淘金令》、二胡齊奏《戰馬奔騰》、箏樂合奏《戰颱風》等樂曲，是次音樂會免費入場，到時見！

【Performing Arts Carnival 2023@KTT】
The Performing Arts Carnival 2023 presents a diverse range of performing arts programmes by emerging talents from the Schools of Dance, Music, Drama and Chinese Opera of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and artists from venue partners. The Carnival has toured around four performance venues in the New Territories, and the last Carnival will be held at Kwai Tsing Theatre (KTT) 2PM, on 10 December (Sunday).

The Department of Chinese Music will be performing Shandong Folk Music “Gold Rush Order”, Erhu Ensemble “Charge of the War Horses”, Zheng Ensemble “Battling the Typhoon”, to name a few. This concert is free admission, see you there!

【李颷教授敲擊大師班】

十二月四和五日順利於演藝學院演講廳舉行了李颷教授敲擊大師班。李教授對每件樂器進行即場示範，並指點同學掌握每件樂器音色的重要性，同學們獲益良多，是次大師班圓滿成功！

【Prof. Li Biao Percussion Masterclass】

The masterclass presented by Prof. Li Biao was successfully held on 4&5 December at Academy Lecture Hall. Prof. Li demonstrated various performing techniques and addressed the importance in practising different percussion instruments, which is insightful indeed.

The Academy Chinese Orchestra Concert will be held tommorrow, 8PM at Academy Concert Hall. See you there!

【兩岸青年論壇@香港】

今天香港中樂團藝術總監兼終生指揮閻惠昌總監出席「兩岸青年論壇@香港」作為嘉賓，並邀請到中樂系系主任張重雪老師作為特邀嘉賓，在論壇上分享推廣中樂。而中樂系六位同學：李采文、華奕杰、宮嘉豪、方子蔚、蔡暐彥、李幸臻亦作為觀眾一起參與了整個活動，同學們收穫滿滿！

【Cross-strait Youth Forum Kong】

Mr. Yan Huichang, the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for Life of HKCO, was invited to be the guest speaker in the “Cross-strait Youth Forum Kong” today. Ms. Zhang Chongxue, the Head of Chinese Music Department, was also invited to be the special guest speaker in the forum to share and promote Chinese music. Li Choi Man, Hua Yi Jie, Kung Ka Ho, Fong Tsz Wai, Tsoi Wai Yin and Li Hang Tsun, students of Chinese Music Department were also participated in the forum, which is insightful indeed!

香港演藝中樂系同學李幸臻、陳穎希受星海音樂學院附中邀請，參與弓弦組觀摩音樂會演出交流，深受好評。羅弘琛（中樂系）、伍𣿰思（木管樂、銅管樂及敲擊樂系）受深圳交響樂團邀請，參加2023-24年音樂季特別製作·賈達群《大型交響協奏套曲-梨園》演出，獲得好評。

Li Hang Tsun and Chan Wing Hei, students from the Department of Chinese Music, were invited to participate in the Bow-strings Music Exchange Concert of The Music School Attached to Xinghai Conservatory of Music and were deeply loved by the audience. Law Wang Sum, student from the Department of Chinese Music and Ng Chun Sze,Emma, student from the Department of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion were invited by Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra to participate in the 2023/24 Concert Season Special Production - Jia Daqun’s Symphonic Concerto Cycle Impressions of “Liyuan” the Chinese Opera, well praised by audience.

【第四屆粵港澳大灣區開幕音樂會】

演藝學院中樂小組在張重雪主任的帶領下代表香港演藝學院於十一月七日參與第四屆粵港澳大灣區開幕音樂會。邱君琳，方子蔚，黄紫柔，陳穎希，葉珮晴五位同學演奏由余其偉教授串譜的《廣東小調聯奏》及麥偉鑄教授所創作的《一葉知秋》，同場亦有星海音樂學院與香港中文大學(深圳)音樂學院聯合樂團以及多位著名音樂家們的合作演出。祝賀圓滿成功！

【Opening Concert of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area The 4th International Music Festival】

Under the guidance of the Chinese Music Department Head, Ms. Zhang Chong-xue, Academy Chinese Music Ensemble has participated in the Opening Concert of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area The 4th International Music Festival in 7 November. The ensemble has performed “A Composition of Folk Tunes” score by Prof. Yu Qiwei and “A Leaf Heralding the Autumn” by Prof. Clarence Mak. There were also a series of collaborative performances by the Joint Orchestra of Xinghai Conservatory of Music and the Conservatory of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) with all famous musicians. Once again, congratulations to the success of the concert!

【中國廣播民族樂團大師班】

十月二十四日順利於香港文化中心舉行了高白老師二胡演奏分享會和唐俊喬教授笛子大師班，兩位老師進行即場示範，並指點同學基本功的重要性，同學們獲益良多。

在此感謝康文署的安排並預祝兩位老師今晚演出大成功！

【China Boardcasting Chinese Orchestra Masterclass】

The masterclass presented by Prof. Tang Junqiao and Gao Bai, were successfully held on 24 October at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Both of them demonstrated various performing techniques and addressed the importance of basic skills training, which is insightful indeed.

Thank you for the arrangement from LCSD and we wish Prof. Tang and Ms. Gao a great success in tonight’s performance!

新學年甫開始，便收到上海音樂學院師生與中樂系將有交流音樂會的消息，單是得知這個喜訊已令筆者期待。因為這場音樂會更象徵著兩院校之間將來更多恆常活動，對學生來說意味著更多機會到各地學習與開拓眼界，叫人引頸已待。

音樂會由上海音樂學院民樂系及香港演藝學院中樂系學生攜手呈獻，兩地學生均為觀眾帶來具代表性的拿手曲目，包括獨奏、胡琴重奏、絲弦五重奏、硬弓五架頭，更分別帶來特地為此交流音樂會而譜寫的作品，可見這是個舉足輕重的音樂會。

音樂會開始前有香港演藝音樂學院院長盛韻奇博士、上海音樂學院副院長馮磊先生和中樂系系主任張重雪女士先後發言，均表示期待兩院校將來更多交流活動。

之後中樂系吹打小組以《淘金令》一曲鬧台，接著分別有上音王欣悅同學二胡獨奏《正月十五鬧雪燈》、王哲慧同學以琵琶獨奏《霸王卸甲》、演藝陳嘉文同學演奏古箏協奏曲《如是》。之後有演藝同學演奏香港作曲家黃學揚先生改編的胡琴六重奏《新野蜂飛舞》完結上半場。

下半場就有上音鄭迪同學帶來其外公，著名笛子演奏家蔣國基所寫的《悠悠烏篷船》掀開序幕。然後有演藝作曲學生江思詠同學為此音樂會所寫的胡琴四重奏《季風》、上音和演藝同學分別帶來標誌性的絲弦五重奏《躍龍》和廣東音樂五架頭《廣東小調聯奏》。最後有兩地學生共同演奏上音倪晨康博士為此行所寫的《白玉紫荊蓮》，作曲家亦來到在這次香港首演擔任指揮一職，為這次具歷史意義的交流音樂會譜上句號。

是次交流圓滿結束，各師生的功勞都不可或缺。筆者身為學生，非常樂見此般交流。亦希望將來有更多機會與各音樂學院學生交流學習，分享對音樂的熱愛，使大家在音樂路途上認識到志同道合的朋友！

Music exchange events including: Masterclass of Prof. Tang Xiao-feng and concert with Shanghai Conservatory of Music students, were successfully held on 18 October at Academy Music Lecture Hall and Concert Hall.
It is an honour to have such a valuable opportunity performing with students from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, definitely a fruitful experience for all of us.
