OPENING NEW CARE SERVICES IN THE ADVENTIST CHURCH
The Bay Islands Health Region and the Roatán Hospital, in use of its powers that have been conferred on the entire population, public opinion and the media, report the following:
FIRST: Thank all the government authorities, the Municipality of Roatán, institutions, the Ministry of the Adventist Church, private companies, NGOs, and people who, individually, have generously come together and made possible the opening of spaces in the Church Adventist as a grain of hope for everyone in the face of the loss of our hospital.
SECOND: As health personnel committed to serving the island population although there are no complete renovations in the Church facilities
Adventist, we announce the flow of MEDICAL CARE starting on 05/18/2024, remaining as follows:
1. All general consultations will be attended to at the Health Establishments during established hours from 7:00am to 3:00pm. Also, general consultation is provided at the Red Cross Technical Response Unit (UTR) with attention from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm from Monday to
Friday.
2. In the CEMESA Hospital emergency, life or death emergencies will be attended directly and without reference (Example: Injuries from fi****ms or knives, fractures, accidents, pregnant women in labor).
3. The care services in the Adventist Church are as follows:
- Specialized consultation (general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics) from Monday to Friday from
7:00 am to 7:00 pm under the modality of appointments and references.
- Management of minor emergencies with attention hours 24/7 EVERY DAY
(Example: Hypertensive or diabetic crises, asthma attacks, minor injuries).
- Hospital admissions with direct reference sheet from the specialist doctor or medical director of the Roatán Hospital.
- Patients who merit it will be referred to the CEMESA Reference Hospital.
THIRD: These care measures are temporary until we have facilities that cover all care needs.
The general population is asked to avoid exposure to situations that put your life and that of your family at risk. Furthermore, if you feel bad, do not wait until the last minute to seek medical attention, seek medical attention early to better serve you and channel your health situation correctly.

This coming Tuesday, May 7th, the Sandy Bay RTB BIP station will be donating 100Lps to the clinic for every plate of chicken fingers and fries sold. It even includes a drink! The special starts at noon and goes to closing time. Please consider supporting their business and helping the clinic. Plus, it's yummy!

Eleven days ago Roatan lost its only public hospital. We have spent the past week providing supplies to hospital staff, attending meetings and volunteering time to aid however is needed. There are still some details to work out in the coming months, but we can share a few things for now.
Public triage centers and temporary facilities are being established and emergency aid supplies have been provided to operate them. Since supplies vary by person and illness, we have been able to give based on the immediate needs. We are using your support and donated items to meet the needs as they come.

One thing is certain: our patient load will increase, as the clinical part of the hospital was quite busy. With your help, we are preparing to serve all who need us.

With your support we were not only able to help the young boy but also two other children who needed urgent help.
The boy we posted about has finally opened his eyes and is on his way to recovery. In light of the recent hospital fire these other two children needed private care that was unobtainable for the parents.
Thanks to you they are doing better.
