Microsoft is embracing Android for its new Surface phone. The Surface Duo is a dual-screen device that you can fold flat like a tablet, and it’s running Google’s Android operating system. The Surface Duo has two 5.6-inch displays that fold out into an 8.3-inch overall screen, and it’s just 4.8mm thin. You can fold it fully over like many 2-in-1 laptops, thanks to a 360-degree hinge. Microsoft says it’s committed to dual-screen devices because they allow people to get more done on the go. The Verge’s Tom Warren got a chance to take a closer look at the Surface Duo this week, and his first impression was simple: it’s so much smaller in person than it appears in photos. He wasn’t allowed to play around with the software on the device, but he was able to slip it into his jeans pocket, and it’s definitely the first pocketable Surface device. Apple unveiled the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max with a triple-camera system. They’re upgrades to last year’s iPhone XS and XS Max phones, respectively, but with a new camera system that upgrades the old sensors and adds a third, ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree depth of field. Obviously, Apple is very good at lighting its hands-on areas, so we haven’t had a chance to really test the cameras. But we did play with the new camera interface a bit, and it’s great. When you’re in the standard “wide” zoom, the viewfinder fills the whole screen, so you can more easily see what mode you’re in. Unfortunately, we weren't able to test out Night mode, but the camera was fast to open and even faster to take shots. In all, the iPhone 11 Pro is an excellent, well-made, and impressive iPhone. But all of Apple’s arguments about what makes this “Pro” compared to the regular iPhone 11 will need to be borne out in the review.
