Christmas Markets Budapest 2023

The 2 famous Christmas fairs in Budapest opened at the end of November, offering a wonderful Advent atmosphere. Budapest's original Christmas Fair is in Vörösmarty Square , from where you can walk to the other big fair (about 10 minutes walk), St. Stephen's Basilica.

In the 2 fairs you can find everything related to Christmas or Budapest, and of course you can taste the most popular Hungarian flavours.

The highest-paid pr******te, Cecilia Carola worked as a celebrated dancer (also) at the Somossy Orfeum Café, a hot spot for revelers.

Here dancer Carola Cecilia danced night after night, and after her performance she invited herself to the table of the richest and they left together. She was on a first-name basis with everyone in the establishment, but almost no one said hello to her on the street during the day.

The lady was so adored by men that Zdenko Lazarovits, a nábob (leader) from Bačka, gave 1 milliom forints to the diva's. Bow much money was that in that time??? The total construction cost of the Orfeum was 800,000 forints, while the Opera House cost 2.6 million forints.

This also shows that he was the best paid "night butterfly" in Hungary. Several documents have survived showing that he was keen to donate to poor children and orphans, for which he even received a letter of thanks from the then Parliament.

Climbing Gellert Hill in Budapest offers a pleasant hike through tree-lined paths with occasional city viewpoints. The walk on the asphalt path takes about 30 minutes to go from Elisabeth Bridge to Liberty Bridge on the hillside without stopping for photos.
