Part I: For the past year we have been feeling the need for a big shift.⁠
They say before you renovate a home you should live in the space, to really get a feeling for each room and how you would like to build it out. It’s the same in many ways for a business. ⁠

When I created Free The Label in 2017 the name felt so perfect, the play on words was clever and honest and summed us up as a brand and an ethos. By the time we reached the 2020s it seemed like our once niche suffix, “The Label,” had become undesirably mainstream. ⁠
In the world post-pandemic, major shifts in the fashion industry, coinciding with major shifts in the global economy, have reassured us that now more than ever it is our time to embrace meaningful change. ⁠

For months I have ruminated on who are we as a brand. What is our ethos? What represents us clearly as the most authentic version of who we are, and more importantly, who we are becoming?

Part II: We are FREE THE EDIT. ⁠

This name that is merely a subtle departure from our previous incarnation, embodies the essence of our brand. We will always have concise, clean EDITS. We will always have a clear reason for how each piece will thoughtfully fit into our small capsule collections.The long journey to get here has forced us to look at our business as a whole.⁠

To trim the fat and make clever and exciting plans for the year ahead.⁠

We have heard your feedback and understand that you want a more accessible price point and are busy working to create new designs with the same clean, signature aesthetic in beautiful, budget-friendly fabrics. With loyal customers across the globe, seasonality is another big topic that we can no longer deny, so while outfitting for warm temps has always been our forte, we are excited to bring you more styles intentionally designed for cooler climes.
