4 Spirit Siblings

This week, astrology, numerology and personal calendar have beautifully aligned for me, opening a portal for deep introspection. And the morning after the night when the moon was full in Cancer, a heavy rain was falling from the sky like a holy waterfall, and cleansing me from old patterns so I could enter into a new cycle. That special morning, I was guided through an old Javanese prayer for the Gods, the Sun and Mother Earth; a prayer to honor my guardian angels.

“Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer”
The 4 guardian spirits of the 5 axis - from the Javanese Philosophy.

At birth, the mother delivers the baby along with 4 important elements that keep the baby alive inside of the womb:
- the placenta,
- the amniotic fluid,
- the blood,
- the umbilical cord.
These 4 elements are revered in Indonesia compared to the West, and they are traditionally placed into a clay pot and buried in the ground.
And then, these 4 elements that were protecting the baby inside of the mother’s womb transform into the baby’s guardian spirits. The 4 spirit siblings who will protect the baby during the entire life.

Each of the 4 spirits have a specific color: Black, White, Red, Yellow. And they also represent the four directions: North, East, South, West.
These directions lead to the right path.
The center is us, the Self.

How interesting it is that the same colors are found in the Native American medicine wheel, that represents the animal spirits of the 4 directions, isn’t it?
I wonder in which other ancient traditions we can find these symbols… I am pretty sure these 2 aren’t just a coincidence.

(…)
And here I was, on this special Tuesday morning, sitting in front of an altar decorated with offerings and honoring my guardians, my sister-spirits. The colored rice porridge to represent them, and a candle in the middle that symbolizes myself. “Urip Iku Urup” in Java, life is seen like a fire that has to shine bright on the surroundings. The brighter our flame, the more light we can share with others.

Thank you for sharing with me the wisdom of your ancient tradition.

There is a beautiful Japanese word that expresses the feeling of seeing or experiencing the profound and mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe, and this word is Yugen. I believe that we all have experienced Yugen in our lives. This feeling of wonder and magic we have when watching a breath taking sunset in the mountains or while loosing our gaze in the turquoise bleu horizon by the ocean, or simply when star gazing with friends far from the city lights. These moments offer us the direct experience of something greater and bigger than us. They give us the possibility to contemplate on a Supreme Reality. We might not all agree on how to name it - some will say God, some others will cautiously use the term Nature or Universe - but all will agree that there is a deeper reality that is far beyond what our human minds can conceive.
And the more time we spend in the nature, the bigger the opportunities we have to get in touch with this overflowing and wonderful divine feeling.

I used to call myself a city girl. I got conditioned all my life to believe that I love to live in an overcrowded, noisy, dirty, unnatural place. I believed that the city had everything I needed. But what I do really need as a human is feeling the earth beneath my feet, listening to the sound of the flowing river and the flying birds. I need fresh unpolluted air, I need trees, flowers and bees. I need to feel the sun and the storm. I need to pick the fruits from the plants. I need to play in the dirt. But most of all, I need the wild, because in the wilderness I can sense the cosmic reality beyond myself. I can stop pretending and start being my true authentic self.

When I see the indigenous people living so close to the nature, I pray they will never get trapped by our modern industrial globalism. Westerners and city people call them “primitives” but they are the ones who understand, feel and respect the vast spirit behind nature. We have so much to re-learn from them.

FREED🕉

Like the burning inner fire
That liberates from the binding power,
I aim to a Love that is higher
That frees from ambitions, desires.

Living in the satisfaction of the only Reality,
Where time and space are in alchemy.
The pause, the silence, the equanimity,
I surrender to the ever-changing tranquility.

Moving gracefully amidst the chaos,
I treasure the blessings of letting go,
Watching emotions, wishes and thoughts,
Yet not allowing them to pe*****te my soul.

I’m thanking the Spirits for their guidance,
Grateful for this blessed Earthly existence.
Slowly aligning all the elements,
Ready to bloom in the Cosmic dance.

And when I look upon, I see freedom
Nothing to hold me on my journey to Aum.
In the light and darkness I follow my breath,
I am nothing, I am everything, I have faith.

So much wisdom was passed down from generation to generation since ancient times but is slowly erased, banned, censored or simply forgotten by our modern societies all over the world. The current way of living totally disconnect us humans from our natural habitat and our natural cycles. Our global anti-culture influenced by Hollywood pop industries is slowly replacing traditions and ancient customs. The search for attention on social media has replaced the search for God an any other spiritual practices(check the , for an example). And worst of all, the allopathic medicine has disconnected us from the sacred knowledge of medicinal plants, from the expertise of traditional healers, from our real potential where the body and the mind are considered holistically. But most important all these modern ways have disconnected us from our intuitions. These inner voices that carry generations of wisdom and experience about Life on this planet. It is only when we take some perspectives, when we leave the city life, change our diet and habits, start to breath a fresher air, move our lazy bodies and (re)connect with our inner child that we start to hear these inner melodies, harmonies, chants and poems. Our ancestors are singing only love songs. They tell us that we have nothing to learn yet everything to unlearn because all we need to know is already there. Their wisdom teaches how to interact with Mother Earth, how to treat our parents, how to raise our children and how to interconnect with our communities. This wisdom is in the marrow of our bones. Our traditional ways, ancestral knowledge, is the resource we need to reconnect with the world, both natural and supernatural. To reconnect to our intuition is to remember who we really are, it is to claim the sacredness of ourselves and of our lives. To recognise that the sacred is inside of us; and if we dig far enough both in the Self and in the past, we will discover that we are all connected, we come from the same primal cells and Spirit.
Listening to our ancestors is the choice to let things nourish and heighten us. To have the possibility of being ‘awake’ and to willingly set our intent in sustainable evolution.
