๐ฆต Following on from yesterday's post re: calf injuries, here are some stretches to try for tight calf muscles. ๐ก There are 2 different muscles that make up our calf complex; 1. Gastrocnemius - the larger calf muscle, which is the visible "bulge" on our lower leg 2. Soleus - a deeper muscle that lies under the gastrocnemius 1๏ธโฃ The first video shows a stretch for the gastrocnemius - the emphasis here is to keep the back knee straight and push the back heel into the floor. 2๏ธโฃ Swipe left โฌ ๏ธ for stretch no. 2, which is a stretch targeting the soleus muscle - keep a bend in the back knee this time and push the back heel into the floor. Hold each stretch for 20-30 seconds and do 2-3 sets of each, depending on your ability / irritability. โ ๏ธ Top tip; always do the exercises / stretches on both legs!! โ๏ธ Stop if any of the stretches / exercises aggrevate your symptoms - you should feel a stretch but not a strain! โ ๏ธ These posts / videos are for educational purposes only.
