In the last few days a great sadness has descended on the island. The sudden death of our friend and colleague Alec Brown has shocked us all.π
He was an absolutely wonderful man and everybody thought the world of him. Itβs not too much of a stretch to say he was truly loved by all. He had such a positive impact on any one he met. Anyone who met him from their first meeting became his friend.
His work with the Pipe Band was legendary. Working hard with everyone to make it a band of which we were all rightfully proud. And yet, he was not a hard task master. Helping anyone who asked with patience and good will and above all, good humour.
Arranmore was part of the family heritage. But when Alec, Maria Teresa and Callum moved to the island, permanently over ten years ago, they fitted in from the start. It was like they had always lived here. Proving themselves great assets to the community from day one.
Alec had connections and friends across the world from Scotland to Russia and back. He will be missed around the world. But here on his adopted home of Arranmore his loss will be massive.
