Planning Permission Fees
(to the local authority)

The planning application fee to Meath County Council is currently €65.

For applications where Retention of Planning is sought - the fee is €195 or €2.50 for each square metre of gross floor space, whichever is the greater.

What is your "budget" - an overall budget should to be determined for your project, together with a breakdown of the various cost elements. The budget should include build costs, utility costs, fees, charges and levies. It should also include a contingency sum. The input of a surveyor is very useful in estimating your required budget.

Wood panelling can create a dramatic interior finish - it creates wonderful acoustics and storage space behind it- hide the bike or golfclubs!

Refurbishment for energy efficiency?

If you are claiming an SEAI grant, you should ensure that your supplier and installers must be SEAI approved.

Fire place design

If you are going to build a house, you will require planning permission from your local authority. If you intend to build an extension or make other changes to your existing house, you may need planning permission. Some small extensions and conservatories do not need planning permission but it is important to check this before you start building. Thatching Grants

The thatching grant is available for the renovation of thatched roofs of owner occupied houses. A grant of up to €3,810 or two thirds of the approved cost (whichever lesser) may be payable towards necessary works to renew or repair the thatched roofs of houses. A higher grant (up to €5,714) may be payable for houses on specified Islands. For Medical Card holders, the maximum grant is €6,350, or up to 80% of the approved cost (€8,252 for Islands).
