DI National Champs Info

Arrivals are permitted from 2pm on Thursday.

Passports must be presented to the office on arrival for inspection

Arena Familiarisation will take place on Thursday from 1700-1900 and on Fri from 1800-1930. During the familiarisation you can work in walk trot and canter but a maximum of 5 horses will be permitted in each competition arena at any one time- this will be stewarded but please be considerate of other competitors.

Arena walks will take place on Fri from 0800-0830 and on Sat and Sun from 0730-0800.

Arena walks and familiarisation must be done mounted and numbers must be worn.

All riders must warm up in the new sand arena during the competition and you will then be allowed down to the ten minute warm up next to the arenas just before your test so please allow time to do this.

There will be live scoring on the DI website.

Amy hand grazing must be done wearing a bridle, a lunge rope and numbers, handlers must wear a hat, boots and gloves.

Please ensure to pre book your evening meals using the DI itsplainsailing and be sure to put your meal choice in the additional info section.

All freestyle music must be emailed to the DI office by 5pm tomorrow (Wed) the address is [email protected]

Sunday am GR Prelim & Novice, National and Studbook YH classes, pm Freestyle.
Please note that Grassroots classes start on Saturday and conclude Sunday. All other standard classes prelim to advanced start Friday.

Esme and Emma have been competing at Prelim and Novice level this year very successfully.

🍀Esme is an Irish Draught x Cob mare. 🍀

In Emma’s words:

Samorin Withdraws as Host of the 2025 European Dressage Championships Samorin has withdrawn as the host of the 2025 European Dressage Championships. They were planned for 28 - 31 August 2025.

One of our Preliminary level combinations, for this masterclass.

In Nadine’s words:

“I am riding at preliminary level with my mare Horse Heigh Ho Rosey, we started to compete in Dressage Ireland this spring, but we also compete in riding club at P3 level.

I am originally from Switzerland but living in Ireland for the past 18 years. When I first arrived in Ireland I was working as a show jumping groom for an international Irish rider and got to travel the world as his head groom. I am now back working in an office environment and have horses as a hobby. I lost my confidence riding, after a bad accident, but am now back to my old self and found passion in Dressage, I am hard working and eager to learn so that I hope can move up through the levels in the future.

I purchased Rosey as a yearling as a companion for my old thoroughbred, She is a TIH, by "Heigh Ho Dubh" out of a "Crannaig Hero x Balinvella" mare.

Rosey is a very genuine, sensitive and trainable horse, always wants to please and do the right thing for her human.

It was a very slow road with her, as I am no professional and took my time to break and produce her, she had a foal as a 5 year old and only started her education as a riding horse after the foal was weaned.
2024 is her first year competing, she was completely overwhelmed at her first show, but improved every time out, the last 4 Preliminary test I rode her in she scored between 72% and 75% I am very fortunate to be able to call such a talented horse mine.“

Nadine’s introduction is definitely relatable having started in riding club and coming across to compete in dressage ireland.

Also showing how versatile the TIH (traditional Irish horse) is across all disciplines and being very competitive in dressage.

Stewards at DI National Championships
We are bringing over 2 FEI level stewards to the championships.
This is to ensure adherence to the rules on bitting, tack and horse welfare and also to ensure FairPlay in the competition environment.
Please make sure your tack and bits are within our rules and if not sure please ask the stewards before competing.
There will be compulsory tack checks after you have finished your test, they will check your tack and look for any rubs or cuts.
The stewards will also oversee the arena walks to ensure that it’s safe for everyone.
Please be respectful to the stewards as they are there for your horses welfare.

Wicklow’s Kate Kerr-Horan hoping Paris Paralympics crowds won’t stop her shaking off Tokyo 2020 results Wicklow para rider Kate Kerr-Horan is apprehensive but hopeful ahead of her second Paralympics as she seeks to overcome a late mount change and the pressures of the big Paris crowds in the individual and team para-equestrian events.
