What a fantastic day it was being back in Killruddery for HELL & BACK ! Huge congratulations and heartfelt thanks to the Orbis team from AvAir, Castlelake and the Le Chรฉile Group who conquered obstacles even tougher than those in the video and made it to the top of Little Sugar Loaf. Our team was raising funds for Orbis's sight-saving work in Ethiopia. Just โ‚ฌ15 allows an Orbis-trained eye care worker to conduct an eye surgery to prevent blindness. So, to everyone who participated, your support will make a significant impact - thank you! #thankyouforyoursupport #challengeaccepted #teamspirit #ethiopia #orbis #communityhealth #eyecare #eyehealth #csr #avoidableblindness

Following another hugely successful trip to Ethiopia for the Great Ethiopian Run, we are thrilled to announce that our exceptional runners and dedicated teams have achieved an incredible milestone by raising over โ‚ฌ180,000. We cannot express our gratitude enough for their hard work and dedication to raise money to support the schools and health centres we visited during our visit to Ethiopia in November. After a busy weekend in Addis Ababa, participating in the 10K run and soaking up the Ethiopian culture, we were honoured to journey 500km south to our project area, where our dedicated colleagues from Orbis Ethiopia guided us through local schools and clinics. Witnessing firsthand the impactful of Orbis in these communities was once again a humbling experience that reinforced our dedication to ending avoidable blindness in Ethiopia. Once again, a heartfelt thank you from everyone at Orbis Ireland. Weโ€™re already looking forward to next year. #CSR #Ethiopia #AvoidableBlindness #SavingSight #GER2023 #Trachoma

๐Ÿ“ขJoin us and make trachoma history. Trachoma is the leading infectious cause of blindness worldwide. Nearly two million people globally live with sight loss or blindness due to the disease. Most people at risk from trachoma live in Ethiopia. Children are the most affected by the disease, and in some areas of Ethiopia, 1 in 5 children have trachoma. But the end of trachoma is in sight. Three more countries have already confirmed elimination of the disease in 2023. To help eliminate trachoma by 2030, join us and end avoidable blindness for all. #EyeCare #maketrachomahistory #LoveYourEyes #EndTrachoma

Across Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น, 65 million people have their sight threatened by trachoma, and in some areas, as many as 1 in 5 children have an active trachoma infection right now. "When Medhanit has trachoma, she feels an irritation in her eyes which makes them itch. Her eyes turn red and start weeping. She struggles with bright light, and prefers to keep her eyes closed and stay indoors." Repeated trachoma infections can cause the eyelashes to turn inwards and rub against the eye's surface. This causes immense pain and damages the cornea, leading to permanent blindness. ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ“ข Join our EYE CARE FOR ALL Campaign this #WorldSightDay and help us eliminate trachoma for good. The Campaign will bring together professionals from Ireland's eye care industry to raise awareness about the global challenge of avoidable blindness and vision impairment, while raising vital funds Orbis Ireland. For more information on how you can join this campaign follow the link to our website: https://irl.orbis.org/en/how-you-can-help/eye-care-for-all #Trachoma #Ethiopia #EliminateTrachoma #EYECAREFORALL #WorldSightDay #JoinUsNow #Eyecareindustry #Ireland #SaveSight #Optician #Optometrist #pharmacy

For Temima, the stabbing pain in her eyes was so bad that it woke her up at night. At 55, she has lived with trachoma throughout her life. Only surgery could save her sight. Neima and Sitra are just three and six years old. They both have trachoma. Without change in Ethiopia, they face lifetimes of infection, pain and possible blindness like Temima. In 2023, trachoma has already been eliminated in Benin and Mali. We can eliminate trachoma everywhere by 2030. Join our mission to #EliminateTrachoma. ๐Ÿ’™

Today on World Water Day today, it's important to acknowledge that while most of us take access to clean water for granted, there are many regions in the world where running water supply within the home is not yet a reality. Visit our website to read more.
